Yes. The team has no discernable plan and this is the proverbial straw that broke this damn camel of a team's back. Enough already

If the Vancouver canucks were going to throw away 2 draft picks on a guy who wouldn't end up even putting on their Jersey, do you think Jay Feaster would go out of his way to let them know?
Would you want him to?

holy crap this is huge news.
Goodbye Feaster. We should fire him anyways just because of all the negative perceptions that comes from trying to sign a RFA.
Fire Ken King too. He fired the wrong Sutter that day.

I don't think Gilman said he knew about the rule or the NHL's interpretation of it.
He just said he knew that O'Reilly had played. Which Feaster knew as well.

You don't think it is a little odd that he signed an offer sheet with the Flames if every team was apparently interested in the guy - either Feaster was the only GM who didn't know the rules and went ahead with an offer sheet or he offered significantly more than everyone else and O'Reilly went with the Flames offer.
Personally this reminds me a lot of the Craig Button bringing Dean McAmmond back after the trade to Colorado. An obscure rule in the CBA than no one really knows but that people who are in charge need to know.
Frankly he is apparently good with the draft but that misstep is inexcusable and he deserves to get the boot as a result.

Hey man, I'm just reporting news apparently from Sportsnet, that's all. I'm not pretending to know why this information wasn't presented yesterday.

Sorry that this is a silly question but, who would be in charge of firing Ken King?

Same kind of BS as the GM that comes out and says "Gee if I would have known player X was available I would have offered a lot more then what Team Y did"
Pretty unprofessional of the Canucks organization to even comment on this and pile on another GM.
I'm not here to defend Feaster, but a pretty clown shoes comment by the Canucks.
If he would have said it yesterday before this all came out it would be a different case.

After reading Elliot Freidmans tweet about it, I am on Feasters side on this one, the memorandums wording will be changed, but Feaster found a loophole and tried to take advantage of it. I liked the move and I truly think he would have won if it came down to it.
He pointed out their mistake

I don't see where that would matter. If Colorado finds out, they either get serious about negotiating and sign the player before you have a chance to give the offer sheet, or they let you give him the offer sheet and match it.
You don't really lose anything if Colorado finds out, where you potentially lose a lot if you don't get clarification from the league on the issue.
