Daly is acting totally inappropriately in making statements to the press about an unresolved legal issue. Flames management should consider a law suit. Daly is no way the be all and end all in interpreting this document. He's one of several parties invovled. He has no more authority to interpret the document than Feaster does.

Haha, a lawsuit, for what, publishing their interpretation of the CBA. The lawsuit angle worked out well when the Rangers sued the NHL.

Well it's now official. The Calgary Flames have officially joined the NY Islanders and Edmonton Oilers in the NHL hall of shame. At least the Young Guns years were brought on by a poor Canadian dollar, bad drafting and a lack of salary cap. Now they still draft bad and are simply embaressing themselves.

So the Avs could have made out like bank robbers.
ROR, 1st, 3rd and a saved face.
+2.5M bonus already payed to ROR courtesy Calgary Flames.

I'm willing to bet that's exactly what their excuse will be lol
I've definitely defended Feaster's work for this team in the past, and to be fair he has made some pretty decent tweaks to the team... however this could have been a disaster! Somebody's head needs to take the axe for the ignorance.

How do you figure that. In what scenerio then, would an RFA be allowed to come back without clearing waivers first? Seems like a pointless line in your interpretation, since the moment the RFA signs he's no longer, technically, an RFA and therefore that exemption would never come into play.
Jay, you're grasping at straws.

It's not, it's getting pushed back because of Sochi. The thoughts of Feaster cleverly pinning the Avs to the wall because it would be after next years trade deadline before they could move O'Reilly are false as well.

The more I read that quote the more confused I get.
I really want an official statement from somebody on this because I have a feeling nobody really knows the truth about how this would have worked yet.

It gave them a chance to beat the trade deadline, it could be in early March next season because of the Olympic break if NHLers go to the olympics again. But ya, there is a chance the Avs won't be able to trade him at all.

And Feaster represents no parties to the contract, the CBA is an agreement between the NHL and the NHLPA. I would rather have someone who is an actual party to the contract commenting on the agreement than some random dude like Feaster

An offer sheet is not a Standard Player's Contract. He'd still be a Restricted Free Agent until the Avalanche decided whether to match or let the Flames sign him.

Ever since the underwear blogger comments, he lost all credibility in my opinion. It was not very "Presidential" and was a really stupid thing to say.
Can you imagine Holland, Lamorello(sp?), Gillis, Nonis, or anyone else saying that?

I have defended Jay, and supported him, but he has failed to improve the team. He tries and hit home runs (Richards, ROR) but strikes out.
Time for a new direction.

I don't understand how there are 16 people so far that have voted for the third option?!? By your justification, because Colorado matched and we dodged the bullet, Feaster's oversight should be overlooked?? A mistake that could have lost us a first AND a third round pick for NOTHING in a very deep draft should be forgiven because the deal didn't actually go through? That's like saying attempted robbery is ok because it didn't actually happen.

There have been plenty of days over the years where it's been painful to be a Flames fan. This is right up there but with much embarrassment added.
Feaster should go, as should anyone else involved in this decision. This organization has become a mess.

BTW, if COL didn't match and CGY got ROR, CGY would've been obligated to put him on waivers. No provision for paying him not to play.
