Yes, it outright cost him his job.
Stan Bowman was gunning for the job anyway, but it was the ammunition chicago needed to move Tallon out and Bowman in.

If Feaster had told ownership that this offer sheet signing would help improve our club THIS SEASON and going forward then yes he deserves to be fired. But strictly from an acquisition point of view, I would say no unless the Flames somehow finish last overall. At the end of the day, O'Reilly is an asset whose destiny is controlled by his team in the forseeable future.

I believe in the Jays.
|
This organization is such a mess that I just don't see how firing one person can make that big of a difference. There needs to be a massive cleanup, which includes the attitudes of our owners.
This isn't a sinking ship, this ship has been resting on the bottom for a long time.

I think this is a much worse situation. At least Chicago had their core locked up. The Flames only have 2 real pieces for the future on the roster.

That's a pretty big mistake, but doesn't the Flames have a legal department to warn the GM of this? O'Reilly has been a hold-out for quite a while, surely someone would've looked into this, no?

And the $2.5M signing bonus, I believe.

I think we need to give Feaster a break.
I mean he's a hockey guy - it's not his profession to interpret complex legal documents.
Oh wait....

Say what you will about the team, but this has got to be the most entertaining sinking ship that ever was in the NHL. Somehow there is something major to talk about with this team every week.
Can't wait for next weeks soap opera scoupe.

They won't acknowldge it, because it's not true. From the CBA information document:

Quote:
All Players on a Club's Reserve List and Restricted Free Agent List will be exempt from the application of CBA 13.23 Waivers in the case of a mid-season signing.
For further clarity, if Club A trades such a Player to Club B and Club B signs the Player to an SPC, such Player will be exempt from the application of CBA 13.23.

This is just sports writers trying to drum up hits. Feaster is clearly a better lawyer than Bob McKenzie.

Hopefully calling up McGratton is the last transaction of Jay Feaster's Flames career.
