In the end, I'm glad Feaster wasn't afraid to make this kind of move. He has balls. He doesn't care what the media or anyone thinks of him. He tried to make a move that would help the team today and the future.

Unlike our neighbours to the north.

Glad that didn't pan out. Very concerned that feaster will trade our first on a worse option now though.

I'm glad feasted made the effort. Forced a hand, acted like a boss.

I wasn't sure how to feel about this offer sheet, but now I know I feel more relieved than disappointed.

Perhaps the Flames dodged a bullet...

Now hopefully Feaster doesn't get desperate and dump our first rounder for the first second rate center he can find.

Acted like a boss? He almost screwed over the Flames for a few years, but the Avs one upped their stupidity and matched the overpayment. Make qualifying offers when you're a top 10 team, not borderline lower 5.

How do we not know that Feaster was simply putting the screws to the Av's? I think he knew the Av's would match so he made it a bad situation for them going forward. He just forced them into paying a huge price for a player that does not like playing there and is a distraction in the dressing room. How can you not love that? Good job Jay.

Mediocre play, which they are on pace for and have played over the past several years, won't get them a high pick. And any attractable assets would only be attractive to contenders or bubble teams, which also wouldn't fetch high picks.

*ROR signs offer sheet with Flames*

"Stupid Flames, that'll be a top 5 pick!"

*Avs match the offer sheet*

"Stupid Flames, now you're going to lose Iginla for nothing!"

Never change, HF, never change...

Mediocre was my vernacular for tanking.

I am sad

Maybe we can trade for him now.

Maybe O'Reilly demands a trade to Calgary now.

Maybe

Things ended up turing terrible for the Avs as they lose an important player for 1/3 of the season because they didn't want to pay him and now then end up paying him more than they would have had to had they not played the games they seem to do with their free agents and again they didn't have him for 1/3 of the season.

Ah, I understand.

Just know I can't get on board with being OK with Flames losses. It seems so counter-intuitive.

He can't be traded for at least a year (which is after next season's deadline).
