They are stress testing so it might be a little bumpy.
Try switching servers too if that is an option.

So far it looks like the sea can only be used for ferrying (tourism)? Looking through some stuff but not seeing whether it offers any industrial/shipping benefits.
Edit: Just saw, we would want a Trade Port if we were planning on doing some overseas trade.

I didn't have any problems in connecting to the servers last night. It was pretty much hiccup free for me.
I had to go out at one point for an hour so I just left my city running and I was expecting to come back to a huge disaster, but it wasn't that bad. They took care of themselves!
One thing I could not figure out was commuting between cities. Is this done automatically based on available jobs and such? I did not see anything in the region view to persuade my citizens to go work in the factories of my neighbouring city. Maybe I didn't have enough people to go around.

I was playing a random game with 2 other dudes in a small region last night, and I found commuting/tourism/education commute was most noticeable if I built my large structures around filling gaps that the other cities didn't have. So when I built my University early in the game, I'd have about 300 students commuting (mostly via train) to my city to take classes. They however worked on massive power generation projects, so I skipped building any kind of power generation buildings and just bought it off the grid.
I really like the new regional system.

I really hope in an expansion they allow you to design your own regions.
I would like if the whole region were connected with roar or rail to each other.

Keep some cutting boards in the freezer. That's what an old gaming buddy would do. Wood ones were the best he said.
