It's probably not going to hold much weight with you Erick, but straight out of his mouth, he doesn't limit offensive creativity (start watching at 2:00):
I've got no problem with trading a forward from the ECHL for an AHL winger with good size. Win in my books. Flames organization could use a few more deals like this.
I wish nothing but the best for Wahl, hope he gets a shot with Philly.
Another thing to consider is that there's obviously an active line between Philly and Calgary right now. I doubt the initial call was looking to add Wahl.
Howse too? I thought we still had a collective hard-on for this guy?
Nemisz was a bad pick from day one. Turrible.
I never liked Howse. He looked really fat and out of shape compared to other players when I watched him in the WHL. Reminded me of a less skilled Kolanos with how he would just coast around waiting for a snipe as well. I thought it would be a long shot for him to make the NHL very few players can get away with that perimeter style of play with out an elite shot.

Honestly I think he's a good coach as you can't argue with the results he gets from career AHLers but I simply don't think he's the right guy to be developing Flames prospects. In the NHL where only winning matters I think he would be a good coach and in fact I believe his style would be more effective with the Flames personnel than Hartley's up tempo style of play which has resulted in a soft and sloppy defensive team.

Sutter would say the same thing but that wasn't what we would see on the ice. I won't speak for what Ward does but just saying that he doesn't do it doesn't mean anything at all.
Honestly, I kind of think that he ought to be let go as farm coach. He sounds so different from Hartley and I think the farm coach ought to coach the same way as the coach from the parent club. Also it seems to me like he leans on the AHL vets to much (and by extension not enough on the younger guys). That's a good thing as far as the Abbotsford Heat go (winning wise)... but my primary concern is the present and future Calgary Flames.

All the folks pumping Howse tires a few years back should contemplate that and then act accordingly to our current crop of prospects.
And just because I never miss an opportunity: Nemisz was a terrible pick from day one; how Todd Button has escaped judgment day is a true mystery. I do remember the days though of the Big = Good mantra, and "he can work on his skating, it's not THAT bad..." Lesson being that we're no different from any other fanbase.

Agreed.
I want to see his lists as well. I have a sneaking suspicion that they are as bad as we think.

I don't think Button could do his job with any degree of autonomy while Sutter was here. I remember him saying ultimate call was Darryl's. He's done pretty good in the past two drafts sans Sutter so I'd be willing to stay the course for now, especially since Feaster is putting more resources into scouting which should pay off.

Feaster is now shopping in the junk yard hoping to hit the jackpot.
meh.
all GMs make big moves, as well as small minor league moves.
For 2 players that likely won't play more than a dozen or 2 in the NHL, who cares. If the guy comes up and plays a few games on the 4th line, i consider this a win. Wahl has been a great disappointment, after getting concussed, his style of play had altered to a point where it's unlikely he'll even get a sniff of the NHL.

Well... he did have really really good stats to go along with the size but as I think we've basically come to see that was likely Hall & Henrique (and maybe Loktionov) driving the bus on that Spitfires Team with Nemisz just along for the ride. But yes... whenever I hear "Skating needs work" in a scouting report that's a major red flag for me now.

I've mentioned it a few times, but right after the WHL season I spoke with Marc Habscheide (his coach) and he had no good things to say about Ryan's work ethic or abilities outside of his shot

Nemisz outscored Henrique every year except the last one when he played less games so hard to imagine that Henrique was driving the bus. I think he just developed more into an NHL player but at the time in junior he didn't appear to be the better player or the guy pumping up Nemisz's point total. Plus I thought Nemisz mainly played on the second line and not with Henrique and Hall.

Nemisz played with Hall (most of the time). Henrique was on the 2nd/shutdown type line.
Henrique was always the better prospect. Nemisz was the big guy who you could dream on which describe a ton of Flames picks in the Sutter era (Chucko, Pelech, etc).
I would have also rather had Wellwood from that team than Neimsz... he likely maxes out as a 3rd/4th line energy guy but Neimsz was never a guy I'd have pegged for an NHL player.
