I think the most appropriate response would have been for Stempniak to just crash the net hard when he split the wild d a few minutes after mcdonald got taken out. Forget about taking the shot and just push the puck and yourself through backstrom and into the net. Probably could have gotten away with it two since he had the two defenders right on him.

When your protecting a one goal lead? Why would going four on four be a good thing?

Still remember in the 04 run against Detroit when they were running Kipper. Next shift Ville Nemenen went flying down the ice along the boerds, hung a left at the goal line and just ran over their goalie. Penalty yes but after that they left Kipper alone. Point made!

I forget...what happened to Kiprusoff in the series against the Red Wings after McLennan took out the team's frustrations on Franzen?

Well, Redwings just got a PP from having their own Dman running Howard.

Since they play each other again on Tuesday, the Flames can handle it then. When it happened was not the right time or game situation to retaliate.

The overall lack of push back from the Flames has been an issue, but I also think in last nights situation they did the right thing. 3rd period, tight game, 1 goal lead. You gotta make sure you get the win rather than get revenge. The team needs points.

Good teams make their point at the right times. Simply reacting without taking the context of the game into consideration would've been stupid.

Weren't we shorthanded on that breakaway? I can't remember but probably not a good idea to potentially give them a 5 on 3 while protecting a one goal lead

agreed - but look at the success rates when you do - 2 of the 3 players have won cups based on this formula. Canucks will have problems winning the cup as they have similar problem as us - too many one dimensional players, albeit a little more talent on their roster.

They did add a guy like Kassian for that exact reason though and he's looking like he'll be a skilled, PITA for years to come.
