The best part about the whole Wannamaker thread was how organic it was. It wasn't forced, or the "thing to do" that week or a weekly thread to go nuts on...it just happened naturally.
Kind of like the 2004 playoffs and the Red Mile. No one told people to go down there and party. No one said "everyone be nice and just high-five and cheer." It just happened. It was organic and natural.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm trying to say, or how to say it, but I think people know what I mean.
You had to be there...
And to answer, yes I was wasted when I wrote this last night. Yes I am wasted again tonight with a response to the thread I forgot of which I forgot I wrote. I stumbled across it earlier today in my morning check of the off topic forum.
But...
From what I remember about my idea to write this, was to create a conversation about this crazy, out of nowhere, hilarious moment that happened. I knew I would get videos, and pictures and Gif's, and it would make lots of people laugh, smile, and just be happy. So.... You're welcome.
Also I was going to write about the Russians but figured it would just come up.

I was on the night crew for that whole ordeal. It gave me some productive use of my insomnia for once in my life. I remember sitting there with my iPad and iPhone stopwatch at 3:30 in the morning, hitting refresh, and timing it down to a near surgically perfect 6 votes per minutes coming from the Russian side. And then we are all theorizing about how they had some sort of script, or vote bot, were cheating, dirty commies, all over some stupid coffee cup contest.
To me the payoff was when Spacetag came in to unofficially surrender, and we found out their 'botnet' was a bunch of Russian housewives somehow voting with their TV remotes. Correct me if I am wrong, didn't they join the CP/Wannamaker cause at the very end to try and help drive HaMichael right out of the top 10?
HaMichael.... definitely a where is he now story. Probably one of the most epic backfires in the history of the internet.

No way were they going to beat the combined might of the West! I was voting on all 3 of my office computers and my phone. I remember one slow day at work I'm walking into all of my offices and just submitting votes from each computer as often as I could! Haha! Oh man. I cant believe I was getting paid for that.
