They put up big numbers playing meaningless games and run and gun hockey...now they are trying to win some games and they are near the bottom of the league in offence. Not scared

Hard to say what the NHL will do because he's not been suspended before but IMO that should be 3-5 games. The puck was nowhere near Clutterbuck and if you are going to hand out big suspensions to Cooke for taking out defenceless players you have to at least give out a moderate one to a first time offender like Hall.

Same thing you see from defenceman all the time, someone comes across the line with their head down and you absolutely crush them, however if you hit them in a dirty manner you are at fault. It's the way it's always been.

I know you are trolling and I shouldn't feed you but there it is.
Hall was aiming for the hip, you can see how he leads into it with his own hip. Had Clutterbuck been watching and lower to the ice instead of straight legged and coasting it would have been harmless.

Oh ya I am "trolling" because my opinion is different than yours, good one.

Maybe, but we've heard that about the Oilers every season since the last lockout.

If anything that forward group has regressed and are playing more as individuals then as part of a system or a team.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Oilers were back in last by the end of their 9 game road trip.

right now surprisingly the only thing preventing the Oilers for being truly bad at all ends of the ice is some pretty solid goaltending.

Does it really matter what he was thinking? He went leg first. It was reckless.

No you are trolling because you ignore half of the post you are quoting, ignore facts (onus on the player throwing the hit regardless of your opinion) and just seeing what you want to see and stating it as fact.

Hall was not aiming for the hip, we have picture proof on the last page, go check. Again, what Clutterbuck was doing is irreverent, while stupid, it's not a penalty to skate with your head down or while looking in another direction.

The sport of hockey is reckless and hip checks are legal, he didn't hit him in the knee, he hit his thigh. Legal hit.

He hit him in the thigh, another legal place to hit a player. What Clutterbuck is doing isn't illegal but it will be factored into the equation if the league reviews it. You have no facts, the contact was made between Halls hip and Clutterbucks thigh.

Totally a dirty hit from my perspective, but I have to ask... Where is all the rage that no one from the Wild jumped in and stood up for their teammate?

Think Hall should sit for 3-5 games for that dirty hit. Anyone who says it wasn't dirty must be a know-nothing Oiler fanboy.

When has what another player been doing ever been factored into a decision in this league? I won't argue that it should be but it isn't, and it won't. I think players that turn their backs to the player and face the boards when they know a hit is about to happen should be as much at fault if not more than the player "hitting from behind" but it's not the way it works. People will argue all day if it was dirty or not, regardless tho it was a stupid play by Hall. A very stupid decision to go through with a very ill advised hit. Either Hall targeted the knee or he is just one of the worst hitters to ever play the game.

Ah false bravado I love it.

Basically Clutterbuck will distract the moron with a shiny object or a lighter and then beat him to death.

Nhl will send a message with this one after the new CBA.

First time offender but will still get at least three and up to six games if clutterbuck is seriously injured.

Cheap hit.

Does the video being replayed over and over constitute "facts" ,

You can argue that inside his muddled brain he intended to make a hip check but what he actually did was not a clean check by any stretch of the imagination. Players do have a responsibility to avoid dangerous plays like that.

Fortunately for them offense isn't the only aspect of an effective hockey team. Hey, they aren't a great team right now and, much like most other teams in the league, they have a few glaring holes that need to be shored up. However, they have a pretty exciting base to build from and there's no justifiable reason to think that they can't or won't improve.

Anyone who neglects the potential capabilities of that team, both in talent and convertible assets, needs to address issues of denial.

Or have fashioned their own subjective opinion based on objective facts.

Although pretentiousness and condescension seems to flow pretty freely around these parts. Sanctioned and encouraged, too.
