Most people acknowledge that he is a 4th liner but that he has been better than other guys on the team and fills a huge need this team has.
I think people find it odd that he is the guy on and not some of the other passengers, more than they are overly concerned that he could be gone.

over reaction none the less....and yeah lots are saying he WILL be picked up

Oh and is Irving still on the roster?
Sometimes maybe we should wait before we assume the GM is blaming periphery players, not holding the core accountable or "drinking"
(I say this realizing I should just shut up and let the town criers turn this into a 44 page thread and boost my traffic)

Irving is now back to the AHL so......

I don't see how saying there are others guys that should be waived is an overreaction and must have missed the lots of people saying he will be waived.

The irony in all this?
Irving was just re-assigned to the minors.

No logical sense can be made keeping Comeau over Jones right now. That is likely what frustrates people and over react to really suspicious moves like this. Sure Jones isn't gone yet but I would put the likely hood of him being claimed higher than eighty percent.
The only thing that gets Jones off the team is if he does not get along with the coaches. And even then, still doesn't make sense when there is a gaping chasm down the middle of the ice.

How is it an over-reaction? It just seems the general concensus is that Jones did some good work on the 4th line, better than his linemates, and also filled a need at centre. Seems more to me like confusion than anything.

the fact that there is about a 1% chance he is claimed and basically it means nothing

Oh my, I don't know how to feel about that.First off would Vancouver EVER pull of a trade of that magnitude with the Calgary Flames? I know you guys are being sarcastic but lets not give anybody any ideas around here lol!
Secondly, I would never want a fresh Canuck pulled over to the Flames. That filth lingers like a bad fart.

Though this doesn't make a lot of sense to me given how Jones was doing on the 4th line, but does this move really change the make up of the team? No. Someone new on the fourth line will likely make no difference to our results

Well then why not waive the much more useless Comeau or Begin and make it 0% so you have no risk of losing a valuable piece of your team?

Nope. This franchise is turning into a joke. They aren't the Oilers yet but it's not for lack of effort.

Maybe this is the way Feaster is going to get rid of a contract? A team will probably claim him. Jones has been my fav 4th liner

I've been mulling it over, and I have a couple conclusions on the Jones move.
1. We put him on waivers with the intention that he be claimed because we want to shed an extra contract for an upcoming move.
or
2. Jones has burned some bridges with the organization, and is being given his walking papers.
I can't see this move as being based on "meritocracy" Jones hasn't exactly set the world on fire, but he plays a good north south game and is able to provide 5-10 minutes of relatively acceptable ice time each game.
Yes Comeau should be waived, but sometimes there is more to moves. If it comes down to conclusion #1, I think that Jones has a higher probability of being claimed than Comeau.

A natural left wing, Comeau is expected to move the middle.
“I’m excited for the challenge,” he said. “I don’t think I’m that bad of a player where I think it’s outrageous that I’m playing centre with Jarome and Glennie. I didn’t think of it as a joke at all.”

Likely to be claimed by another team, Jones, 26, declined interview requests until 10 a.m. Sunday when word will come of his fate.

That's not the concern to me. The concern is that all these internet fans can see the value someone is bringing to the team and somehow management can't. The real issue has little to do with Jones and more about how is the team actually making its decisions.
