The only way this makes sense as a prequel to a trade is if more players are coming in than going out, which I think would indicate one of our bigger names leaving. That or something like signing Arnott or another free agent. Or I suppose it could be us trading picks and unsigned prospects for a signed player. Alright, I have no idea what this means.....

I don't think he will make it to the Heat, I think if he clears waivers he will be dealt.

I'd like to see a follow up move though, Steckel from Toronto is a move I would like. They haven't been playing him and he is a much better player than Jones IMO.

I stand by my opinion that we would of had a better chance at killing of the PK if he tried for a line change.

I like Jones as a player and perhaps my reaction was harsh.

I would love top 3 as I've seen enough of this season to not really care if they lose every game from now as while the team has added some nice players the foundation still stinks. To make matters worse the franchise is starting to look a little Mickey Mouse with all the goofy roster shuffling.

I think this is right in line with the meritocracy idea. There's no question that Jones has been our most invisible player through his first 11 games. Whether he's been better or worse than Comeau is up for debate, but I could see management giving Comeau the edge because he's at least gotten himself into the right spots before failing to finish. Personally, I'd have rather seen us waive Comeau, but I don't think either one of them has done anything that Street or Horak couldn't do.

Just a thought,

I noticed a couple shifts there just after the 5th Blues goal where it looked like Comeau was trying to egg a couple guys into fighting (those cross checks to the arms we see Iggy do usually when he wants a fight), could that have maybe this been a request from Hartley and perhaps he doesn't feel Jones tried to do this and asked Feaster to get rid of him?

I may be off, but I know Hartley likes to send messages. He became quite hated for it a couple times in Atlanta.

This now makes two coaches in two years that have fallen in love with Comeau. I don't get it. I just don't. The guy has zero hockey sense and offense just dies on his stick. Am I crazy thinking that having Comeau center Glencross and Iginla is the stupidest idea ever?

Can I see a show of hands ... how many people that are completely over reacting to Jones on waivers also lost their minds at the Flames "giving up on Irving" when they claimed MacDonald last week?

Oh and is Irving still on the roster?

Sometimes maybe we should wait before we assume the GM is blaming periphery players, not holding the core accountable or "drinking"

(I say this realizing I should just shut up and let the town criers turn this into a 44 page thread and boost my traffic)

He hasn't been any more invisible than Begin or Jackman and Comeau being invisible might be seen as an improvement by many here.

At least he wins face-offs and provides the Flames with a real center. The fact they are resorting to Comeau playing center and waiving Jones makes no sense and shows just how bad the center situation is.

Disagree. If anyone's been invisible so far, it's been Jackman or Begin. Jones IMO has been visible for the right reasons for the most part. Comeau, on the other hand, has way too often in most games been visible for all the wrong reasons, as too many offensive plays have died his stick.

Jones is by far the best 4th liner. Brings a lot of energy every time he's out there. Hope management knows what its doing here.

when nobody picks him up you guys will realize he isn't that good...this sounds a lot like when both crappy goal tenders were on waivers

Are there a lot of people saying that he is so good? Or that he won't clear waivers?

Most people acknowledge that he is a 4th liner but that he has been better than other guys on the team and fills a huge need this team has.

I think people find it odd that he is the guy on and not some of the other passengers, more than they are overly concerned that he could be gone.

IMHO, Jones is the best of the fourth liners, and will be picked up on waivers.
I hope to be proven wrong, and I am hoping that this is part of a bigger deal.

But hardly the time to over react when a fourthliner (and a guy we got on waivers?) is being waived. Maybe one of the other guys from the farm is coming up?
