I think Jones has a strong chance of being picked up. I really like Jones - young and what I thought still developing, and was hoping he would get better with time. With that being said, he is the 'best' of the 'worst' on the Flames. Probably the only player that wouldn't really get anything back in a trade (until maybe the deadline) but who probably will not pass through waivers.
Flames are just opening up a roster spot, or a contract spot (or both) in anticipation of making a move. Let's see what happens. Begin would not get picked up, Comeau would not get picked up, and I doubt Jackman would get picked up right now - and assigning them to the AHL does not create a contract spot.
I really hope it is more than just signing Arnott.

jones has been good in almost every game this year.
absolutely shocking that jackman/comeau are spared, yet jones may no longer be on the team.

I'm going to take a wild stab at this.
Jones probably complained to the coaching staff that he was bypassed by 3 AHL call ups to centre one of the 3 scoring lines. Coaching staff and management aren't happy about this, they get into an argument, Jones asks for a better opportunity, Feaster grants it to him by putting him on waivers.
And to add insult to injury, they put Comeau in between Iginla and Glencross in practice.

I think I'm gonna start not watching this team while Comeau still plays. It makes me angrier than it's worth.

Maybe Jones is part of a package we're sending out, but the receiving team wanted him already able to go to the minors with getting claimed? Does that make sense?

Maybe Comeau is simply filling in until the new acquisition(s) arrive(s).... hopefully.

this is more likely IMO, or.... (see below)

This crossed my mind too, I also think Sven is returning.
Hudler - Cervenka - Iginla
Glencross - Tanguay - Cammalleri
Horak/Sven - Stajan - Stempniak
Comeau - Begin - Jackman
There is also a chance this is a similar situation to Karlsson, a team is willing to trade for him but only if he clears waivers first since they want him for depth. This way they can keep him in the minors until they actually need him (or have cap space for him)

Maybe something else will follow but this season is starting to look like a complete train wreck. I just hope they don't go on some late run to ruin their chance at drafting top 5.

Its kinda silly to lose your mind about a 4th liner......
But he is young, cheap, skates well, decent on face offs, good size, right handed, good on the forecheck and a center.
Weird

Screw top 5, if they have to be bad, top 3 so the worst they can do is pick top 4.

I cheer for the Calgary Flames. Not Calgary FC, not the Calgary Drillers, not the Calgary Boomers, not the Calgary United, not the Vancouver Canucks.

I'm pretty confused by this, but I'll welcome Jones to the Heat any day of the week. Can't hurt having another heart and soul guy on the team.
I'm thinking a trade is coming. At least I hope so.

Wasn't that the same game Doan ran Gio from behind with no penalty? And then did the same to an LA King the next game, injuring him? F*** Doan.....
