its almost over honestly, I don't think some of you realize how big the hole is...with so many games being three pointers its next to impossible to make up ground. Not to mention this team can't win shoot outs

There were a few more empty seats tonight than I had seen in a while

I'd just like to see us make it a lot harder for teams in our building. It's ridiculous how many points we're giving away here this season.

Backlund may not have had the best numbers in the first bunch of games, but the kid was an absolute catalyst on the ice. He drove the play north always, and found open ice and helped generate chances for his line and faceoffs in the offensive zone. He pretty much made whichever line he was placed on an energy line. And his jump was pretty infectious throughout the lineup, you could especially see it leading up to his injury.

Boy do we ever need Cammy and Baertschi in this week. Put Cammy on the top line, I'm sick of the whole thread it to Iggy mentality. You need two triggermen up there. And before Cammy's injury he was working pretty well there too.

Wow...a close game like that and half of you are already getting the pitchforks and the torches out before you jump on the "Blow it up" bandwagon.

At least the "It is early excuse" has been replaced by the "When we get healthy we will be better". Should be able to ride that one for the next ten games.

Flames are 1-3-2 at home a quarter of the way through the season. These are points that are just getting pissed away. Not sure how you put lipstick on that pig.
Really not interested in what one of the most relentlessly pessimistic posters on this site thinks about my choice of wording.

My point was a simple one, and I'll break it down again:

5 of 8 points in our last four while missing three significant forwards and our starting goalie isn't bad, and is something to build on moving foward as they start to return.

I know you're anxious to try and spin everything into doom and gloom, but my assertion couldn't be more simple.

At the ten game mark one thing is for certain. They better get on their high horse and start churning out some convincing wins or we will be out of it by game twenty.

tough....for sure. Next to impossible? Laughable at best.

Those of you who think this team sucks and do nothing but come here to bang that drum really seem like you're wasting a lot of your own time being so invested in all of this.
Thank god you are here to let us know how to spend our time.

The Flames fans that think this team is going to make the playoffs are like the guy at Cowboys who buys 20 beers from the beer tub girl and tip her 5 bucks a beer hoping she will come over at the end of the night and say "Hey big boy, I have had my eye on you all night, take me home". I suppose it could happen, but it seems unlikely.

Jones as the first shooter was mind bottling. Stempniak, Cervenka, Brodie, Wideman, or anyone else would have been a better option

You're free to waste your time basking in negativity all you want. You seem excellent at it.

This is a short season and being four points out despite the injuries so far does not make it nearly as unlikely as you suggest.

But if this is your cue to start spending the next half hour ranting about how it's impossible, you can leave me out. Not interested in the way you waste your own time.

You need to learn how to read, I said that 5 out of 8 points was a positive. Look it up, it is in the exact same post that you are bitching and moaning about when you are not being sanctimonious about any poster who does not think the Flames are going to win the Cup. You can take your baseless and pointless personal attacks elsewhere and pick up a reading comprehension book.

Difference between believing they will and not willing to take a dump on the team at any opportunity.

Of course a season can be frustrating and yeah, it's hard to be positive given the state, but why not enjoy the ups and downs of a season?

It can't be healthy to be so negative, can it?

Just my two cents.

soooo condescending. I didn't make it sound like anything, it was all objective analysis

You seem angry.

You jumped all over my simple point because you disagreed with me calling Cammalleri, Backlund and Sven top six forwards.

Seemed petty, and didn't change the point I was getting at so I reiterated the sentiment with words that would seem more applicable to you.

Sorry about your ruffled feathers, and glad to hear you agree with the point I was making.

The time to build anything is over as the Flames need to go on a run in the next ten games. They need to be above .500 at the halfway mark of the season or it's over. It's definitely doable but they just came off the softest opening schedule in the league and wasted it. We are at the point where if they don't win it's not positive.

well then.. I suppose he should have a much better read on shooter's he's probably never faced.

Shrug. Not defending his shootout performance, it was awful, but I don't think you can reasonably expect a whole lot more from a kid who just played his 11th NHL game. The only way to get better is to play more against this level of competition.

This team does suck, do people think the standings are somehow not important? This is not a temporary thing in case you were too busy convincing yourself things are looking up.

Not nearly as excellent as you pulling the wool over your own eyes.
