Hard to expect Dancevic to have a repeat of the match of his life.
Our Davis Cup hopes live and die with Milos Raonic. We need him to win two, then hope someone else can win one of three. Against Italy though, Nestor and Pospisil should have decent odds in the doubles match. Especially since it will be on our choice of surface.

Solid win, although watching him (and not just today, when playing Murray a few months ago) the unforced errors are tough.
He had something like 54 winners today, and the opponent had 6.
He won 18 games, Garcia Lopez won 9 games. I know there are double faults, but that's a pretty big disparity where Lopez got his points. He treated it like a training match, but some of his trying to get too cute is causing unneccessary errors.
Regardless, fantastic win, and from the sounds of it, there's more then a good chance against Italy who doesn't have some the big names in the first place, unlike the cocky Spansih not sending a guy liker Ferrer.
That said, you can't count on Danzevic winning next round. Nestor and his partner Pospisil need to get in better shape...they had it to 1-1 in the fifth set and ran out of gas while Spain just kept at it yesterday. So you have to count on Raonic's two wins, and then a win from somewhere else, either doubles or the non Danzevic match.
But the momentum they're on, and playing at home, why not. Depending on the way the rest of it plays out, could be at home for the next round too.

Dancevic loses the dead rubber.
USA will probably survive, now up 2 sets to 1

I have a feeling they'll turn to Levine as their second singles players. I do think he'll give them a better chance to win. I feel guilty for saying that because Dancevic played a huge role in getting the team to the QF. However, you can't stick to the same lineup because of sentimentality. You have to go with the players that will help you win.

Oh man what a weekend! Another awesome time at Davis cup. It is a lot more fun when you win. I hope Calgary gets next tie since without the big names coming to van this weekend they couldn't get a sell out again

I'd definitely use the Corral as the venue. Indoors, cold, poor lighting, carpet. This is playing to your advantage. Plus the atmosphere has been fantastic in the past.

Back to the grind!
Nadal is back! He's in a tournament in Chile and will play tomorrow (I think)
Milos has the week off and then it's back to back weeks again in San Jose and Memphis.
San Jose where he's won the last two years and Memphis where he's lost in the final the last two years.

Djokovic's ascent to the top began with a late 2010 Davis Cup victory. so therefore by extrapolating to Milos, I'm expecting he achieves the #1 ranking around mid-July, shortly after capturing Wimbledon (his 2nd grand slam title) and running the table on all the masters series in between. right?

I remember watching a relatively unknown serbian named Djokavic beat Roger Federer who was still at his peak in the Rogers Cup.
The trophy presenter even screwed up his nationality and called him Croatian.

It was an incredible weekend for Tennis out in Vancouver. A bit disheartening to see the stadium empty out after Milos' match on Friday and again on Sunday but nonetheless I enjoyed myself and would head back if UBC gets the draw again. I'd hope that the Corral could get it this time around. Who's interested in starting a petition or rally to get Tennis Canada to notice us.
I'm actually surprised nobody has mentioned the doubles match between the Czech's and Swiss yet.. It was incredible! 7 hours and 2 minutes!! Wawrinka even played again on Sunday. I couldn't imagine doing a long distance walk even for 7 hours let alone play a tennis match.

The folks in Winnipeg did this for the Spain tie and Tennis Canada definitely looked their way. Winnipeg even began offering pre-sale packages on Ticketmaster before the eventual city and venue were even announced. In the end, it turned out to be: First choice) Vancouver 2nd) Calgary 3rd) Winnipeg.
Team Canada's had a lot of success in the past at the Corral, so you never know.

It definitely won't be in Toronto or Montreal unless they want an arena full of Italians.

Not sure if the Corral will meet the minimum seating requirement. 6000 is needed for a Davis Cup quarter final and I believe with the box seats in the ends taking out a bunch of the fixed seating capacity in the Corral it only sat about 5000. Of course changes can be made etc...and I really hope we get the quarter final. The Corral would be crazy for it!

Hockey capacity is 6475...but when we have had Davis Cup in the Corral in the past they have constructed box seating in each end, as a tennis court is much smaller than a hockey rink. These box seats have taken out a lot more seats than they have added, lowering the total seating capacity.

Ahh gotcha! Ubc only had box seating at one end this side. Maybe only following that might help some more. Those boxes were nearly empty the entire time in bc I say get rid of them!

San Jose:
Levine won easily last night so he's in the Round of 16. Pospisil is on the court right now and Milos goes Thursday I think.
This tournament goes really slow because they only have 1 court (Shark Tank).
Bouchard and Fichman have advanced to the Round of 16 in Colombia. Dubois is also there. There is nobody at this event because the big women's event is in Qatar. The top seed here is #80 so it's wide open.
