Would love to see my country vs my other country.

I don't know if it's a function of him tanking it, maybe he will. He's only had a single break point opportunity. One! That is phenomenal serving. I can't see any way out of this for him. That serve is iron-clad today.

Awesome!
I assume the host would be decided by a coin toss? I can't remember they've played in recent times.

So nice to see a Canadian match be a "formality". No drama. no close calls. Just a routine win and a place in the Quarters.

Yup, Canada's so new to this, most matchups will be coin flips. Canada's very good at coin flips! But with all these home ties now, in a few years it looks like Canada maybe be playing on the road a lot.
In the 90s Canada played Spain in Spain, Sweden in Vancouver.. Austria? Can't remember.

It says a lot about Raonic's serve today that he has no problem taking so many double faults going for it on second serve. I doubt anyone on Spain's active roster would have had an answer for that today.
And a double-break up. This one's over.

Canada v USA would be in Canada. Last time played was 1965 in the US.
Canada v Brazil would be in Canada. Last time played was 2007 in Brazil.
Canada v Italy - coin flip.
Canada v Serbia - coin flip.

Wow, that's a long time. Seems to me Canada needs to invest in tennis. A country of that size needs more than hockey.
I don't see why Canada can't beat Italy. And as long as we have Djoko, a semifinal is looking good.
A good chance we'll see that match up, provided everyone stays healthy.

On paper Italy isn't that strong. Seppi is about Granollers level, maybe a bit more consistent but Frank just crashed Granollers so he could crush Seppi. Heck, even Vasek beat Seppi at Rogers Cup last year.
Fognini is an enigma, just dramatic and all over the place but can win the big match like he did this tonight.
And their doubles team isn't as good as this Spain doubles team was.
Milos should win both his matches and then Canada needs 1 point in the other 3 matches. Playing on the fastest court possible will help.

If the tournament is on red clay, all bets are off. Milos is surprisingly alright on the dirt and Nestor has won 4 French Open doubles titles. But playing in Italy on the slow, red dirt of the Foro Italco is a different beast.
If it is in Canada, they'd be crazy to not play indoors and on carpet. I'd bet on Canada, with Milos healthy, to make the SF.

Canada's already won the coin flip. It will be in Canada.

I missed that. Indoors and on carpet. Europeans hate that stuff.

The live rubber in Jacksonville has started.. 3-3 in the first set.
I'm sure the Americans never thought they'd be playing today into the Super Bowl!

Yup, if everyone iz healthy, Serbia-Canada should be already penciled in.
Which should be interesting. Raonic is of Montenegro descent (as is Nole and they sometimes spar together), Nestor was born in Belgrade, he's also Zimonjic's former partner, Dancevic is also from this area...
Interesting.
Would love to see Raonic play Djokovic. That amazing serve vs the best return in tennis.
