The original idea was to buy Ramo out of his current contract and have him come over for this season, and I believe Feaster had a deal in place to that effect when Ramo's team changed owners and the new owners nixed the deal. It's unfortunate because it looks like that will end up being a 2nd round pick that we gave away for nothing.

Toskala and Cujo, both veteran goaltenders, were the best backups Kipper ever had.

Easily explained by my earlier Post.
We need a starting goalie now and a backup goalie when kipper gets back. One became available so we took it.
Couple that with Irving sucking and there's your explanation.
Let's all move on.

Another factor is under the old CBA we would have held Ramo's RFA rights for another year since the date used to determine a players age for contract purposes is their age as of June 30th (Ramo turns 27 on July 1st), but the new rule regarding players that are RFAs for 2 years becoming UFAs kind of boned us.
I think Feaster's plan was to try and buy him out but knew if he wasn't able to he had 1 more year after of having Ramo's rights. The new CBA changed that though.

And his name is McKenzie, not MacKenzie.
Not sure if it was an off the cuff comment from him, meaning he was available to come IR Wed, not that he would, but with Millions last twitter post, unless Kirpusoff is going to go retro and play 70's stand up kick save goaltending, he's not likely playing any of the 3 games this week, or more.

I just don't get it. The flames give out contracts like Jim Hughson gives out BJs to Ryan Kesler. I would love to know what managements plan is here. What was the point of signing Taylor to a pro contract then immediately picking up this bum on the waiver wire.

Kipper is out for an extended period, management needed to make a move because they can't leave the farm hanging with this goalie situation. Regardless of what they think about Taylor they will have to send him back to Abby.
I would assume the Flames will ride Irving and MacDonald will be back up.

Damn that would be pretty good evidence for best goalie in the 2nd best league in the NHL...
So he is a RFA this 2013 summer?

Roloson? His last year as a Flame was 97-98.
I don't believe Krahn ever sat on the bench during Kipper's time either. He certainly never played as a Flame.
Also, CuJo and McLennan were great as our backup.
