Hartley didn't say much RE: Backlund in the post game scrum.

Will be evaluated tomorrow.

Big 2 points. Irving looked fine considering it was his 1st game of the season. Concerned about Backlund, flames can not afford to lose a center.

Didn't see the first, but the second was certainly a bit of it. Giordano did a half-block that we see a lot from Bouwmeester of past, where he obstructs Irving's view but has no chance of stopping the puck.

Giordano hasn't been the same since he got his new contract about a year (?) ago.

Cervenkas hand-eye was awesome tonight almost slams in a goal from waist height. that would've been amazing.

Irving did look nervous out there and at the very least the third goal shouldve been had. Given consecutive starts I can see his confidence go up and start playing out of the crease a little more. Really thought his puck handle was good tonight. He definitely is not kipper when it comes to kicking our rebounds to where his D can get them but his Stick work is solid. Really needs to get better at his angles. But solid play tonight regardless.

Is it me or does the Iggy line need to be broken up? Tanguay is almost going full ###### trying to get Iggy the puck and causing bad turn overs in the process. Glencross needs a little more improvement, his creativity tonight was good though.

Hudler Roman and Backlund looked lethal. Too bad Backs tweaked his knee. Didnt look that bad and was likely kept out for precautionary reasons just to the the infirmary empty. At least I hope.

Again Wideman and Brodie are obviously the 1/2 paring on this team right now and am really pleased overall with both of these guys. Really takes almost all the pressure off Gio and Bouwmeester and allows them to just go out and play. Aside from Bouwmeesters stumble that led to the 3rd goals tonight, he looked solid. Gio needs to be better but not by much.

Overall, this is a couple games earlier to see this team come together and pull out some gutsy wins but that is a good thing. Now a real challenge comes up in VAN on Saturday. Hope the boys get up for that one!

So by your own logic, Baertschi is the league's worst rookie since he has 0 points this season, and Tanguay is a better goal scorer than Iginla because he has 4x as much goals.

Worst part if Backlund is hurt is he seems to get hurt just as he's starting to get on a roll.

I'm trying to look for positives about Comeau but when I say "yesss he actually got the puck out", something's amiss. The dude has worse puck skills than me and I'm horrid.

Nah, sample size is too small for that... I'll just say that Irving's save percentage is currently higher than Kipper's and leave it at that.

I can't wait until Cervenka is 100% NHL game shape.
I would say he is at about 85% i what he will be.
Hell of a good player.

Man just keep getting more and more impressed with Brodie every game. What a great game from him once again. Absolutely love that pairing with Wideman and the top 4 is very solid. Will be even better once Gio gets going as he still seems a little off.

Nice to see Cervanka finally get that first one. Really hope Backlund is going to be ok. He's had such a great start to the season and that line with Cervanka and Hudler looked like they had some good chemistry. For some reason I just have a bad feeling though.

Irving looked shaky for me and kind of reminds me of McBackup when he played. Every shot to the opposition took, Irving went down on his knees and he should've stopped that 3rd goal that went in. Regardless, I'm just thrilled that the Flames won and the way Hartley's got everyone playing (besides Comeau) is 1000x better than the last 3 years of the Flames history.

And in other news...

Roger Millions ‏@RogMillions Hartley says Backlund may see Docs in Van. Or perhaps wait till Cgy. I don't see him available for Canucks game #Flames
