Beyond also thinking the ice was really deep -- say a foot or two -- I thought the lines were somehow dyed ice embedded below and there was just a small top layer of clear ice. I thought paint was applied to the deeper ice then water was applied then iced over.

Also, from ages 6-10, the Bruins were my favorite team just because of the colours on their jerseys.

Yeah, I definitely thought it stood for Habs at one point as well. Gave myself a pat on the back for "figuring" it out all by myself.

Unfortunately years later I found out it stood for Hockey. But apparently the first time that happened was in 1924 and has been going on for over 80 years strong, so I don't feel too bad.

When I was about 2 I referred to hockey as "he shoots he scores".

I also thought icing was when a player stopped and snowed the goalie. Thought it was a penalty as well.

When I used watch rec hockey games in my home town, there was one player with a JOFA helmet and I figured that he was Wayne Gretzky. I thought it was awesome that Gretzky would come to my home town and play rec hockey.

Couldn't for the life of me figure out what icing and offside was.

Favourite player was Theo Fleury cause his name was awesome.

Favourite teams were the Red Wings and the Flames because I liked the colour red. (Favourite MLB team was Red Sox as well)

Also, after 89, when I really got into hockey, I was very disappointed to learn that the Flames were not automatically going to playing for the Cup.

Not hockey related, but when I was a kid I thought that the Blue Jays were the only team that won the pennant, and that they won it every single year. I thought this because the first year my parents watched baseball seriously was the year they won their first. Then the following year they won again. I was convinced that every season the blue jays celebrated their league dominance by piling on to eachother on their last game like a custom or something - it was my favorite part.

I used to think that anytime the radio mentioned "flurries" they were referring to Theo and how well he was playing.
