A good source tells me Winterhawks owner Bill Gallacher is not going to be involved in the purchase of the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes.

Attendance woes continue for Coyotes as sale talk simmers

This link should be used anytime someone says that PHX draws decent attendance. Another game of 9000.

At least they are getting 9K. I thought they often had nights of 3k or less. Colour me impressed!

Glendale is not alone . . .

Columbus had 11,019 vs the Stanley Cup Champions.

The Islanders had 11,318 vs. Pittsburgh.

The Islanders and Columbus haven't sniffed the conference finals in...ever for columbus, and 15 years for the Islanders?

The Coyotes haven't finished a season knowing where they'd play the next in years. I'd say that has a pretty significant impact on fan interest.

Any more impact that not having a team worth caring about in 15 years?

I'd say that has a greater impact.

Not having a team worth caring about vs. not having a team at all. Which one are you going to get behind? Probably neither one.

Well the Islanders are moving anyway. That should help a little, plus the arena is smaller I think.

In the end does it matter? No one is coming and no one has come for a long time. Even on a full house the team would be bleeding money.

Well if the love for the Coyotes is there do lots of people walk around wearing Coyotes jerseys, caps and t-shirts around the state. Is it easy to get Coyotes gear in stores? Is it easy to even get NHL stuff there?

I think you missed the point. It's difficult for people to embrace a team that is constantly on its way to another city, just as it would be difficult to embrace a team that is always losing. I'd argue that regardless of success people aren't going to invest themselves in a team that isn't likely to stick around, why would they?

Then the people of Glendale and Phoenix are making the relocation of the Coyotes guaranteed.

Glendale attendance for a team most expect to relocate is about the same as Winnipeg attendance for a team that was being moved.

Just sayin'

The difference is an increase in Winnipeg attendance, wouldn't have changed the situation while an increase in Glendale attendance would change their situation.

It's all in the Coyotes fans hands. If they showed up, a buyer would be there faster than the roadrunner.

That would be a circular cause and consequence fallacy.

Would it? Seems like you, and a good number of other people, are quite convinced that a team in phoenix will never work.

Only if the fans have given up, thinking that it wouldn't make a difference.

The reason I think that it won't work is because the fans don't show up. Maybe after losing their team, in a few years they'll try again. It worked for Winnipeg.
