My guess is sprained MCL. It's the most common injury when your knee buckles underneath you the way Kipper's did.

hopefully it's nothing serious
could be a blessing in diguise for Irving because, until now, the organization was afraid to put him in there.

The fact that Kipper stayed in net for the remainder of the second well he was injured signals to me that it probably isn't a severe injury. I'm hoping at the worst it may be week to week. About 4-5 starts.

Hopefully this doesn't become a chronic injury, whatever it is.

Goalie injuries can be fun (not for the goalie though, obviously). Who here remembers Freddie Brathwaite?
Wasn't that guy like the 7th goalie the Flames could find or something?
All kidding aside, agree with the blessing in disguise and I think everyone had a feeling something like this was bound to happen. He is close to God, but not quite.

Tough spin for the optimist card here.......the core finally finds that extra gear when they lose their anchor leaving Irving with nothing to do but enjoy being the cp hero as he rides a winning streak back to the bench when Kipper returns. Ya...

I'd like it if Irving played so well that he stole the job from Kipper

I'm not sure if this is just for an amateur goalie on a one game basis as has been done in the past or if Taylor or Brust could be called up.

Didn't columbus do something like this last year? Signed a local boy or something and put him in in the final 2 minutes of their last game? Through, he sat on the bench for a few games prior, just didn't play.

I don't think so. He played out the final minutes of the 2nd period, and he would barely be able to bear weight if it was an MCL sprain.

Ken Wreggett
Tyler Moss
Jean-Sebastian Giguere
Tyrone Garner
Andrei Trefilov
Igor Karpenko
Fred Brathwaite
1998-99 was a great year for obscure goaltenders.

Look at LA's 7 goalies and you'll see 2 interesting names

I would hope that the fact he was injured and didn't come out right away is a good sign that it's not overly serious...
but you just never know. There was the time Iggy hurt his knee (?) and then proceeded to fight the guy who injured him. I thought at that point he was just shaken up but then he missed a month.
Hopefully Irving can put together a nice little run over the next couple games. He's showed flashed and looked really good in the 3rd last night.
If Kipper isn't out too long and Irving can gain some confidence and pick up a few wins we'd be better off as the season goes on having a confident backup.

What about the guy who was only a back-up? Vladamir Nestek i think was his name.

I would guess he is fine, probably a groan injury....
Most likely scenario.... Flames place a emergency recall on Laurent Brossoit and Leland Irving starts the game against the Jackets.
Which gives Kipper a day off.

Odds of this happening? 0%. If Irving is our starter over any extended period of time this team is boned.

Because Kipper has been stealing games for us so many times this year, right?
What else does your magical crystal ball tell us, oh wise one?
