No.. No... Completely unacceptable would be being down by two goals within the first five minutes of the game, the team packing it up, losing the game 5-1 and being dominated in every aspect of the game, then telling their fan base in the post game interviews: "it was embarrassing; we've got to play a complete game; we need a better start, etc..."

A loss is a loss, but in the NHL not all loses are equal. The team played very well, and did walk with a point--it's better than nothing.

I can never watch highlights after a loss.

I haven't been watching Sportscentre lately.

I'll feel it a lot more after a three game win streak.
Was it just last year that they had a better record away than at home? Anyway, for the next few games lets hope it's so for this year.
It's a "cliff hanger" year for sure. Big changes possibly coming.

I guess we disagree then.

When a team does nothing but preach about the playoffs for years, doesn't make the playoffs for years, and then starts a short season off with one win and two pity points, it's just not acceptable.

The time for moral victories ended a long, long time ago. A loss is a loss. A win is a win. They have one win. For what this organization wants, it's not good enough.

The Flames definitely outplayed the Black Hawks but nothing to show for but 1 point. They deserved to win tonight -and Hwks got lucky with 2 seconds left in the game. Kipper played a lot better tonight and their overall defense was awesome. Offensively, they were freaking snakebitten. Cammy, Iggy hit the post a few times, while Glencross might have so frustrated with all those missing opportunities. Backlund been playing so well but still couldn't capitalize on his chances. All lines played well tonight including the 4th line. I have to agree with one poster that Brodie seems to be having some problem with his passes and even his puckhandling a lot tonight. Butler surprised me with his good plays and positioning tonight. I thought they probably have the best D pairings tonight considering their ice time was not even close to the top two pairings. That Bouwmeester's goal was the one we were waiting for a long time. Too bad the Flames couldn't hang on to the lead. Oh well, i hope the road games will do them wonders as they haven't been having any luck at the Dome this season.

Just back from the game, and as entertaining as it was, it was tough to watch. As the shots kept climbing and Emery kept holding the Flames back, you just had a sense that disaster was around the corner.

I've never seen the Flames play better, they got a good game out of Kipper, the defense was pretty strong and even the penalty killing was good. The forwards were pretty spectacular and as much a part of it was a worn down Hawks team the Flames showed skills that we haven't seen in a looooong time.

But you just knew what was going to happen.

Iginla has either an injury or a confidence problem, his shot isn't that good and when he had the breakaway his attempt looked weak live.

Bouw continues to impress, if this team does decide to rebuild his trade value is going to be immense.

What disturbs me is that this team has little in the way of physical edge and grit.

While the Czech Matt line is spectacular and dominates the top line outside of Tangs is really suffering right now, MC and JI are a bit of an anchor.

It was good to see Jackman get involved. Gio had a solid game as did Brodie.

If the team plays like this and doesn't make the playoffs I can almost live with that.

Boy for all the people complaining about the shooter selection in the last shootout where it was all shots, this was all dekes and Emery was amazing.

It seems like 2009-2010 was the last year we had a better away record. But agreed that the road better be friendly this year.

Coach Q said straight up he's never been as outplayed and coached as tonight, ever.

I still believe in this team.

The Flames clearly outplayed both of those opponents, but Kipper didn't show up against Colorado and the pipes wouldn't cooperate tonight. If we keep playing like we've been playing, as long as Kipper looks more like he did tonight than he did on Thursday, we'll be fine.

I haven't seen the Flames play like this since '08. Such an exciting game to watch.

I honestly can't think of anything that was particularly bad. They just couldn't convert on anything.

Out of thanks, but Thanks. I just remember a time not so long ago that they seemed to be much stronger away from home. The team seems to be coming together more every game, and maybe time away from home pressures will give them even more confidence.

On TSN, they had a sound bite where Quenville said they "stole two points."

Did they ever.

The Blackhawks D was a joke. Turnovers for days.

Umm no, wrong again, actually 4 pts in 6 games is a 55 point pace in an 82 game schedule.

Simply unbelievable...the fact that Glencross couldn't get the puck up two times a least. Butler couldn't get the puck up, Backlund with a sitter, Glencross with a sitter, both missed, three posts and cross bars, a fantastic play by Bouwmeester on the goal and earlier on the 2 on 1 where Giordano botched the play at the point.

Great saves by Kipper on breakaway and a couple cross crease saves that were fantastic.

24-6 shots in the 3rd, and a loss. Unbelieveable to not win that one going away.

Out of the 6 games, the Flames have not looked outclassed in any of them for much more then half game, yet 4 points out of 12. Can't stop shaking my head.

I might be disappointed, but I don't take it personally when the Flames put forth a strong effort.

What more can I say? Professional sports in not a fairy tale where the audience always walks away with a happy ending. It's life. The team gave a honest, hard working effort, and put on a good show. The game tonight was definitely worth the price of admission.
