The one thing is, you can't really blame Hartley for the shoot out lineup today. He clearly learnt his lesson from last game.....those were the 3 guys that made sense to put out there, and that's what he did. Too bad they just couldn't get it done.

I can't complain about this one. If you gotta lose, this is the absolute best way to do it.
The Flames dominated the game from start to finish. The third period was as exciting a period of hockey you are ever likely to see.
Hartley went with the right guys in the shootout as well.
It just wasn't meant to be, but you know what, it doesn't hurt near as badly as it did after the Avs game. I'm actually feeling really positive right now. If Calgary keeps bringing these kinds of efforts to the table on a consistent basis, they will certainly win more than they lose.

Any naysayers should take a seat tonight.
This was Emery's win plain and simple. I'm more than encouraged by tonight's game.

I have only one word on how the Flames played tonight:
WOW
Sucks that they lost.. but right now, I barely care! I was VERY entertained! I hope they don't get too discouraged. Right now, they can skate with any team in the league. They create a LOT of chances. Eventually those chances are going to start going in.
But.. WOW.. was that ever a very fun game to watch (though the result sucked). Just wow...

Most enjoyable Flames game I've watched in years.
Despite our current record, I like this team a lot better than recent versions.
I'm finding optimism in this team that I didn't think I would have.

Well, this certainly isn't the same limp dick team we watched for three years under Brent.
If they don't get discouraged, and keep playing like that, they will be fun to watch whether they win or lose......but playing like that, they'll likely win more than lose.

Sure it was a entertaining team, but this team is bad, and there is a good chance we finish last in the NHL.

Give me a break... Calgary dominated... This team isn't bad...

Even though the Flames have won only one game thus far, I think they're going in the right direction. Even Butler looked good with his limited time on the ice. It just sucks that Sutter picked up so many player that don't have any finish around the net.

They played hard and their most solid effort this season but the fact that the Hawks completely shut things down in the 3rd when they ran out of gas makes the Flames look better than they really were. It's easy to look good when your opponent can't skate.

7 posts and Glencross and Backlund looking like Amonte and McCartey out there.
Emery won in spirit.

Flames lost in the last 34 seconds, why put that line out then, they weren't gonna score a goal, they had to defend.

Blech, FINALLY thought we might actually pull out a regulation win in one of these of games we so badly deserved to win but had to work extra hard to get our goals. Guess it wasn't meant to be tonight.
Butler seemed to be playing like someone who has something to prove.
Would be nice if some of our snipers could bury a chance or two to get us a win. Especially tonight where it seemed everyone had at least one glorious chance. Iggy's usual 15 game drought to start the year is unfortunate as it's basically 1/3 of the season..
Cervenka and especially Hudler looked to be by far our most dangerous weapon offensively whenever they were on the ice.
Some games when Tanguay gets the puck I get excited at what will happen next. Sometimes I shudder. Tonight was the latter... so many necessary passes or bad passes.

I liked the line combinations better tonight.
We might need to trade for another gritty forward that can fight. Jackman got pummeled tonight.
Game was very enjoyable (which made losing suck that much more).
Guys are in tough - need to get on a 4 game win streak to even think about making the playoffs.
|
Please no. We just finished being a team full of grinders.
