We should have won that game. Heartbreaker I can't believe it. If we can keep playing like this we will get rolling. It is only a matter of time before Iggy and Cammy start finding the back of the net. I really liked the line combos but we do lack a physical element

It's evident that this team is simply not made up of winners. We have a losing culture now and it needs to be expelled. We find ways to lose, not win and have done for a few years now.
How do you out shoot hem that badly and lose? How do you get a lead with 30 secs left and blow it? How do you have a full 4 on 3 in OT and not find a way
Losing culture, that needs to be addressed at the leadership level of this team. It's not not something you can analyze with stats, but anyone who has played any competitive sport knows its real. This team is not a winning group, and needs to be re worked.

My team's skaters couldn't play much worse, especially in the D-end...but I have rarely seen better goaltending in a game, and I have been watching hockey since Glenn Hall was in net without a mask!
I think it is wrong to blame Kipper...your guys cannot be so wasteful of glorious chances, Kipper should have had a cushion to work with.
|
How Glencross got third star is beyond me. Third star for missing open nets? For going behind the net on the pp when he should be driving the net for a rebound. He took last game off and while the effort was improved it was nlt worthy of a star. We lack a shutdown line and that is what cost us the game with seconds to go. The makeup of the team is flawed and as others have mentioned until we stop trying to set Iggy up for the one timer and start taking shots, we will continue to experience similar results.

And if they don't, at least they will be entertaining. Not being bored out of my skull + Top 3 pick? I could live with that this season.

Just got back from the game.
That was a fun one...lowest scoring river hockeyI have seen. So many chances.
Can anyone tell me what happened in the last 30 secs? They had barely announced the goal and they tied it up.
Glencross is over thinking, Iggy needs to shoot.
Fun game, very entertaining.

Average 10 points, in each of the six remaining 7 game segments, and boom, you're in.

You tell me the truth then. The Hawks had their legs but were dominated by a superior Flames team? Really? Is the truth what you see?

Less than 40 seconds with the lead, no reason to blow it like that, all you had to do was block a shot/win a draw.

Hossa scored with 2 seconds left, he's one of the best players in the league, it happens.
They DOMINATED these guys overall, the leadership was clearly evident all night long.

That's a 71% point rate. Or 5 wins in every 7 game segment.
It's an aggressive rate to go at.

One of the issues is that we really don't have elite players. Iginla is not one at this point in his career. Kiprusoff is in the shadow as well. We have some decent depth but no one who really does the heavy lifting on offense. As a result, you'll have some of these games where you doinate but nothing really ends up going in for you. Bad teams do this alot. I remember the Blues of years back used to play this way. Solid pressure but still lots of losses.
We have a team of second line players. It is what it is.

Emery stole the game for Chicago. Kipper has yet to do that for us to date and we need him to do so now not later if we are going to compete for a playoff spot. Can't afford excuses like slow starts in an abbreviated season.

It's slightly crazy that Flames "fans" are ready to give up on a team 6 games in when their record is placing them exactly where they were expected to place. Are people actually surprised? If anything, people should be thankful our rebuild is going to be one where we are least entertaining to watch and competetive.
I find the complaints similar to people being upset at snow in Alberta in the weather thread.

Doesn't mean you can't be happy with the way they played tonight. That was very entertaining.

a good team wouldn't dig themselves a hole like the Flames are currently doing.
Good teams win hockey games. Not much else to it.

Yeah but to me the single most encouraging sign of the first 6 games is the effort level. It's been there every game even if the execution hasn't. That tells me the coach is doing a good job and maybe the horses just aren't there. This team really needs a guy like Iginla to go on a tear as much as Glencross and Hudler have played well you can't count on players like this to take you to the playoffs on their backs.
