The fact you think that's the bigger issue amazes me. The flames so called best player has zero goals, if he had a couple the flames likely have one or two more wins. Teams go as their best players go, not marginal guys like Butler

Factually it seems like that's impossible to disagree with.

If sports sometimes consist of big swings and roundabouts, we could use a few big swings. Actually, **** it, we NEED them and soon.

Mix it up
Top line should be
Tangs + the Czechs
2nd Iginla Stajan and Squid

Kipper has never been a good cold goalie. 4 days off = cold.
Not really tested till near end of 1st = cold

Just curious is there any other team in the NHL paying 2 forwards 7 mil each this season with a combined 0 goal output.

I'm gonna go ahead and both appreciate the sentiment and question the sincerity of this.

Losing 6-3 against one of the bottom teams playing their 3-game in 4-nights is not playing well. You can play the 'if only' game if you want. But Kipper, Butler, Sarich, etc are all members of this team. You can't say 'if only Kipper played well then we would have won'. For example.

Using the 'if only' defense over and over and over again during the past 4 seasons isn't being optimistic. It is being naive. At some point people need to recognize that we aren't the unluckiest team on the planet. We are just not that good.

I like the tempo. I love Cervenka/Hudler. I have been impressed with Wideman. Backlund is showing great potential. Stajan (gasp) has been solid. Tanguay, Stempniak, and Glencross have had their moments (and have had their 'moments'.) Bouwmeester looks like he might turn it around.

But we are 1-3-1 to start the season. We were dreadful twice. We were almost good enough to win twice. We were dominant once against a team we are generally dominant against. That just isn't good enough.

"But we could have won...." just doesn't do it for me anymore. Sorry if it does it for you.

Some players leadership intangibles are worth more than goals.

This team won't be 1st overall pick bad. The lowest we'll get in the rankings is a Barkov, Drouin or Lindholm ... and yeah, I'll have any of those.

Good news is that we are only 4 points behind the Oilers, bad news is that we are 11 points behind the Sharks.

Regardless of how disappointed and crabby I was after tonight, I do agree that it's being overblown. If the last 4 minutes went differently, people would be on here talking playoffs.

I'm going to wait and evaluate saturday against a measuring stick type team to see if it's really time to hit the panic button.

If they sweep this under the rug, come out and hand the Hawks their first regulation loss, then maybe this implosion of a game can be rectified.

If I see cammelleri fake slapper-at-the-blue line-attempt-to-deke one more time, I am going to lose my mind. Watched him do it 3 times in person in vancouver.

I just have to wonder when it's ok for people to call a spade a spade and not be called out for being "over reacting". This team has put together a very rich tapestry of work to be held accountable to for the last 5-6 seasons. From 1st round choke jobs to sputtering into one of the worst teams in the leagues.

Sadly I have to report to the CalgaryPuck community that Flash Walken will lose his mind at approximately 8:18 MST on Saturday February 2, 2013.
