Two Indians at Plymouth Rock watch a huge ship full of white people pulling into the harbor. The one looks at the other and asked "Do you think they'll stay overnight?".

Sovereign nations can and do try to get away with anything they can.
Those nations will eventually lose their sovereignty
Greece is already basically being told what their economic policy is by others.
North Korea is an interesting question because they're willing to let their people die. Eventually North Korea will collapse.
If the Natives want things to be worse, declare themselves as a separate nation and get far less money and help then they do now.

But I'm sure that Sally Struthers would be on the next plane north

I remember reading before that the life expectancy for natives at the time of European contact was something like 30 years old. They were in bad shape in a lot of parts of North America, and considering how far back they were from the rest of the world in technology, it's hard to imagine things would have improved.
I'd be willing to bet the quality of living for most is better now than it would have been if Canada was not built on this land.

This is completely irrelevant to the topic, but there's some interesting reasons behind that.
Statistically at that time, for Europeans, if you lived up to 21, odds were that you'd live to 70 and up. The averages being so low were almost always due to infant mortality rates.
I don't know what the aboriginal age trends were, but I suspect something similar existed.
Seems to indicate that it doesn't start until 7pm. and goes until 9pm.
Frankly, I'm impressed. I still think the 'movement' is stupid, but at least they have the common sense to realize that they won't win anyone over by blocking them downtown during rush hour.
** EDIT #2 **
It's still on. See post below mine.
