Haven't followed this very closely, what is going on over there?

Dude is a point-per-game player in the AHL this year and he wasn't even invited to camp? Looking at the Islanders roster....I mean, they can't find any use for him? Really?

The Islanders are so weird I have no idea what they would want for him. Lately they’ve been claiming every dman put on waivers so maybe they would have interest in Bouwmeester. Bouw+prospect for Nino+salary dump.
Bouwmeester + Ramage or Wortherspoon or Breen for Nino + Vishnovsky?

I read the article, and it seems to me kids don't think they have to pay their dues in the NHL anymore.

Not that I'd want to see him traded yet, but I wonder if Max Reinhart would be tempting to the Islanders, to have him play with his brother?

Basically.

From what I've heard, they first tried to call Wang/Snow but haven't gotten an answer.

What would be the chances of Vishnovsky playing for us? Or would be stay in the KHL? Might be a bit redundant with Wideman - one dimensional D.

I can see the Oilers doing something for MP for Nino.

Classic case of the islanders being the islanders. Cheap owner and horrible management. They make the blue jackets front office look like the red wings.

I wonder if Vishnovsky would come back to the NHL to play for the Flames? Guy would be a great replacement for Bouwmeester although I really don't see Bouwmeester agreeing to waive his NTC to play for NYI.

I know the Islanders are horrid, but that is pretty ugly.
Save percentage of Isle's goalies while Niederreiter was on the ice in 2011/12 - .889%
Save percentage of Isle's goalies overall in 2011/12 - .903%

Shooting percentage of Isle's players while Niederreiter was on the ice in 2011/12 - 0.84% (which is ridiculous)
Shooting percentage of Isle's players overall in 2011/12 - 8.1%

Niederreiter's play obviously has some effect on these numbers, but it's hard to deny that he wasn't terribly unlucky last season. His goalies performed even worse than usual and literally no one he was paired with on forward or defense could score.

He put up nearly a point per game in the AHL this year so clearly there's something still there. This is exactly the type of guy the Flames need to be targeting if they don't want to blow things up (and should even if they did). Top 5 talents aren't available easily and one bad (and unlucky) season is well worth the risk.

Interesting. That's the type of gimmick that Wang would be into.

I'd hate to give up Max, he's the type of guy you win with, even if he's not going to put up a tonne of points.

But Nino's upside is probably higher.

Tough call. Max fills an organizational need and would probably contribute more in the future.

I'd probably pass.

I'm sick of entitled players but really it's the worst franchise in the NHL. Terrible owner and GM so I don't blame him.

They have completely mismanaged Niederreiter right from the get-go ... well, probably not from the very beginning because the 9-game audition in his first year surely wasn't negative. But he was by no means ready for the NHL next year, at least not for a checking role on the 4th line. They did that just because of the bonuses in his ELC in order to reach the salary floor ... so they basically burnt the first year of his ELC and waste his development along goons and plugs all year, just to get salary cap compliant. The equivalent of that would have been the Flames keeping Sven on the roster for the whole last season and let him rot on the 4th line with Jackman and Kostopoulos. Horrible management decision - Nino should have been in Portland and dominate the WHL with Sven and Rattie. Then in the summer, when Parenteau left and they actually had a spot on the wing for Nino, they instead went out and signed frickin Brad Boyes instead. Nino goes to the AHL, plays really well there and they don't even invite him to camp ... just beyond horrible. Really, can't blame him at all for wanting out.

Who knows what the Isles would be interested in. That is one weirdly run organization. I mean, they tried to trade all seven of their picks last year to move up and grab Murray, then after failing to do so, proceeded to draft seven defence men with all their picks.

Crazy.

Confirmed @KatieStrangESPN report that the agent for @thelnino25 asked #Isles for a trade, but team will not move him.

GM Garth Snow: "All convos with players remain private, but I haven't heard from Nino himself that he's unhappy."

No, the same percentage of both has to be retained. If the Flames kept $3M of his salary they'd also have to keep $2.57M of his cap hit on the books for the rest of the contract.

Flames could always keep some of the salary.

Cammy has a limited NTC, not a NMC. Perhaps the Island is on his list, maybe he got blitzed in Vegas one night and faxed in a joke list to the Flames. One can always hope.
