I could see them asking Bouwmeester or Giordano. They could be trying to lose Visnovsky as quick as possible and would probably do a swap of Vishnovsky + Niederreiter for a defensive upgrade + pick/prospect.

IIRC, he and Baertschi played on different lines in Portland. I think the only time they may have seen the ice together was on the PP.

The Islanders are a team that kept a 19 year old Niederreiter in the NHL and played him on the 4th line just so they could save some cash by using his unattainable bonuses to hit the floor. This is not a team that's going to be interested in a $7M Cammalleri or a $6.6M Bouwmeester.

He's flopped between LW and RW depending on team (Left handed shot, but more comfortable on RW). I think he's RW in Bridgeport at the moment.

i honestly dont think it is. moves out a ton of cap space, gets back a 5th overall pick. and the way he is playing, he isnt even gonna have a place on the flames once cervenka and hudler hit the ice.
there just isnt that much space in our top 9 right now (until some older guys move on) so i dont think it would be all bad to see us grab a young guy like nino.
we are about 2 years away from having sven, backlund, and hopefully gaudreau, brodie as the new core of this team. wouldnt mind adding a guy like nino to the mix.

One goal in 55 games last year, with a -29. His average ice time was 10:06 a game. How the hell do you get a -29 playing 10 mins a game?
I know the Islanders are horrid, but that is pretty ugly.

If the Flames really wanted to try a quick rebuild this is probably their last year to do it. Perhaps 2 games in is not the time, but if this team has limited success in the first 10 games I sure hope that they are listening to any and all offers for Bouwmeester, Iginla, Cammy and Tanguay. Those guys are probably still worth a combined 3 top level prospects and 3 mid level prospects.

Feaster blinking on the Turris trade last year was a mistake. Hopefully he doesn't make the same mistake twice and finds a way to land Nino. Sometimes a player simply isn't in the right situation. Nino is a bit of a risk, but the payoff could be quite large and could definitely go a long ways in helping the Flames skip some down years.

christ, just looked at his contract (cammi) and it is structured pretty strangely, also ridiculously high. cashed in after 39 ginos i guess.
can teams retain salary but not cap hit? for instance islanders take on the whole 6 mill cap his but calgary retains a couple mill in salary to make it more manageable dollars wise for islanders/any trade partner? just curious.

I believe in the Pony Power

The kid wasn’t ready last year and was put into a position to fail. He shouldn’t be judged based on his NHL numbers – take a look instead at what he’s been doing at the AHL this season. He’s still going to be a solid winger capable of 30 goal seasons.
The Islanders are so weird I have no idea what they would want for him. Lately they’ve been claiming every dman put on waivers so maybe they would have interest in Bouwmeester. Bouw+prospect for Nino+salary dump.

Nor do i see Cammi or Bouw waiving to go to the Island even if they were interested.
I just don't see the flames as a match for a trade with NY. Butler, Stempniak, Stajan and 2nd round picks are not going to get it done.
