That is true for some. It didn't happen as much in Canada as it did it the U.S. where whole nations were moved 100s of miles from where they lived and put onto mega-reserves, but it did happen to some on a smaller scale. There is also the fact that many native tribes were nomadic and didn't have specific land to call home; hence why the concept of land ownership was not fully understood.
There are even some First Nations people in Southern Ontario that were refugees from the States during the 1700s and early 1800s including Canadian/First Nations War of 1812 hero Tecumseh.

It might also be true that a large number of these tribes acquired their land from other tribes through conquest themselves, or lost land similarly.
The white guys just happened to be the last tribe to do the conquesting.

The FN are claiming rascism, personally I am sick of all the racism we are recieving at the hands of FN. I don't know how many times I've been called whitey and told how I'm the reason they don't have this and that. Bull****. I see more rascism coming from FN than I do from any other Canadian cultural group.

Any specifics as to the racism claims? All I've seen is claims that a large portion of the people responding to this Idle No More stuff have been making racist statements (i.e. in the CBC comments section) which is both obviously true and totally expected. It's a comments section, there is no greater source of human idiocy. People often display an astounding level of ignorance towards First Nations which is shameful but again, par for the course.
If they're claiming racism on the basis that charges are being contemplated for blockading a public roadway, that's another issue (and really really stupid) but I haven't seen anything of the sort.

It's been posted already in this thread. This type of picture does no good or justice to the issues. If I held up a sign that said "1534, hadn't invented the wheel" people would flip.

I had to laugh at this because the very first time I heard the Idle No More tag I actually thought it was about Natives and gaining employment.

They are doing a great awareness campaign - now millions more Canadians are aware how corrupt they are.
Has the chief lost any weight yet? No? Big shocker. Her gut is stuffed full of hundred dollar bills.

The Sun's editorial response today was as far as it gets and they've plainly stated that they don't moderate the comments section, they'll remove comments that are reported but they feel that moderating discussion goes against the concept of free speech.
The Natives and Idle No More are really off the page on throwing around accusations of racism, and accusing the Sun of slanted reporting when the facts are out there due to the audit.
The reason why groups like Idle No More and Occupy fail is because they debate at the lowest common level, if you're not with us your a horrible racist or red neck or fascist capitalist.
Idle No More is going very much from a legitimate protest group to as Stalin put it a group of useful idiots that are being used by the powerful.
