In that case, I'm much more afraid of zombie flies than I am of zombie humans. That and zombie bears. Mostly because bears have concerned me since Red Dead Redemption .

Zombie humans, if all they consist of are self-propelled dead flesh, are pretty weak. They can't recover daily grind of wounds, eat their population growth, get freezer burn-esc effects from heat-cooling cycles, and are the equivalent of Disneyland to bacteria in high temperatures (as well as great sources of water evaporation in those conditions). None of that bodes well if they move by muscle contraction.

In northern Canada in particular, the water in the cells are going to freeze pretty quick since there is no internal heat source anymore. Zombie snowmen would be fun though.

Plus hundreds of millions would die from exposure and starvation because there is no more electricity or gas and most people couldn't make a proper fire with a gun to their head.
Not to mention illness. Zombie apocalypse are fun for people until they catch dysentery (and, according to The Oregon Trail, they WILL within a week) or break a leg and there are no doctors with proper facilities around to patch them. Most people these days can't seem to get out of bed with a nasty enough cold. Imagine something more severe from water not properly purified or from some of that food you've been rationing out over months.

And we aren't the same top of the food chain species that we used to be, Our idea of the top of the food chain is going to the market to buy a slab of meet. Most of us have become brain addled by T.V. and video games and couldn't run a block without crying for a mani-pedi.

Plus half the people would pick up a gun and keep trying to pull the trigger and complaining that its not shooting and not knowing where the safety is.

On top of that most people who could manage to shoot would think that guns are like the call of duty games and die as they blazed away at the sky wondering why no one is falling.

So to summerize, the world would be populated by wolves and bears and tigers and other apex predators with the speed and hunting ability to mow through the fat survivors. Humanity might consider itself to be an apex predator on this planet, but I think that 95% of the people are too stupid to surivive a azombie apocalpse.

On top of that there would be dissease and infection and parasites would rise.

Me, screw it, if you can't beat em join em. I wouldn't become a zombie but I'd consider any healthy human that comes around me as a prime source of food, unless its female and hot.

Plus beyond guns, gasoline would still be plentiful for a while, I'd make areas destructive weapons that can take out more then one zombie at a time. I'm talking the creation of napalm. Lets face facts zombies are dumb, depending on the interpretation they could be slow, and they like to attack as a mob. A few home mad molotov cocktails and I not only don't have to worry about zombies, but I don't have to worry about heating.

I would be a human eating, zombie burning, explotative surviver.

I voted "Yes" because ive worked my ass off since mid october and am really looking forward to my holidays, the first full day of which will be the 21st. My luck however will mean that the world falls apart in a real bad way this day though.

I really wish we actually had a true blue poster that believes the world will end on the 21st.

There is no way in holy bejeebus that 6 people believe this on CP

Well myself and the order of the withering glare, you know the secret society that I'm a part of don't believe that the end of the world will happen without human intervention, so we're dedicated to manipulating governments and events that will lead to the end of the world.

We'd take credit for the civil wars in the middle east, Iran's push for nuclear weapons and North Korea's test launching of an ICBM, except that half of our members are addicted to World of Warcraft and other half are really really lazy.

And frankly we're just not a very good secret society.

I'll need a team of at least 20 guys... I think the smartest thing to do would be to loot that hunting goods store in Deerfoot meadows and then immediately cross the street and take over costco or the superstore (Costco is my preference as a defensible location.) Once the building is secure and we have a perimeter set - we could send people to Brick/BestBuy etc... for comfort items. We then start building a new world order.

How many people have actually taken steps in case it does happen might have been a better question. I've ordered a couple weapons/tools and got all my first aid kits ready....

I don't know why there's even a debate about whether or not it's happening.
The Weather Network clearly thinks it's happening.

What sort of apocalypse would be significant enough that the mayans could have predicted it thousands of years ago, yet tame enough where you think weapons and first aid will help you?

A high school substitute teacher I had floated the idea that aliens made this calendar to tell the Mayans when they would be returning, so we will be getting some alien visitors on Friday I guess.

Well I for one welcome our new alien overlords.

Seriously, do 10% of the people here actually believe the world is going to end?

Things I have done to prepare for the upcoming alien/zombie apocalypse:

- Make sure my UPS is still working.
- Booked the day off work
- Obtained the second season of Game of Thrones.
