f d'Arnaud, Syndegaard (#Bluejays Nos. 1, 3 prospects in BA) both in package then prospect #Mets will have to give up will be significant

If d'Arnaud/Syndergaard go to #Mets after Marisnick/Nicolino to #Marlins for Reyes-plus #Bluejays would have traded 4 of top 5 prospects

The only way this makes sense (TDA + Snydergaard) is if another big piece is coming from the mets. Wheeler maybe?

At least JPA is having fun with this.

jp arencibia ‏@jparencibia9 Just involved in a huge trade... Traded 4 blue M&M's and a color to be named, for a Purple G2 Gatorade and cash for a snicker bar!

He should have split that post in two and waited a few minutes to post the second part.

It would have been fun to see the media scrambling to figure out what the f was going on.

My guess is Gose was originally involved but it was with Ike Davis on the Mets side. Seems like both are off the table now?

Hate that deal unless that "other player" on the Mets side is Wright. Probably the two best prospects we have left in the system for Dickey....no bloody thanks. AA could not possibly do a deal like that, I refuse to believe it.

Edit: If the Mets "other player" is Davis and our "other player" is Lind the deal is slightly less terrible...but still terrible IMO.

Depends on the other player. Wheeler would be an upgrade over Synd, so I'd be happy if he was the player.

I would tend to agree that would change the dynamics of the deal, I would simply be shocked the re-building Mets would part with him. I simply don't see the need from a Mets prospective to even consider adding Wheeler to a potential deal.

Why would the Mets deal Wheeler after these moves and while rebuilding?

It was part wishful thinking and part thinking that they would need to include a high end prospect if we were giving them multiple high end prospects.

Hope it comes out soon and these rumors of two top 5 prospects are bull. TDA for 1 year of Dickey straight up is too much and I agree that the Mets wont move Wheeler.

Now seeing a few tweets saying the deal is dead because the teams couldn't agree on which prospects were involved. Looks like it all started with one tweet from a guy who has 'insiders', so take it with a massive grain of salt.

Looked at that guy's tweets. Not too sure what to think of him. He only has 300 followers. Could be another hockeyyinsiderr

At sportsnet.ca: Source tells @ShiDavidi still a chance Dickey deal could fall apart:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/201...new_york_mets/

Quote:
Talks between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets over NL Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey were hanging in the balance Saturday, amid reports that the clubs were making steady progress toward a deal and that an exchange may be imminent.

Mike Puma of the New York Post reported that as of Saturday morning, the teams were kicking around a deal that would send Dickey, catcher Josh Thole and another piece to the Blue Jays for top prospects Travis d'Arnaud and Noah Syndergaard (who was part of the Oakland Athletics' ask for Gio Gonzalez last off-season), veteran catcher John Buck and another player.

The other players are significant in this case, as the Blue Jays are likely to want some sort of future piece back with Dickey bound for free agency after the 2013 season. They have long coveted reliever Bobby Parnell, who the Mets have long refused to even discuss, and many of the other pieces the Blue Jays might want off their roster (Jonathan Niese, Daniel Murphy, Ike Davis, Lucas Duda) are part of New York's future, which makes equalizing the value complicated.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com reported that the Blue Jays are unlikely to be granted a window to negotiate an extension with Dickey, and the right-hander with more years of control is worth more than him with just one. But it's possible that they have a sense of whether he'd sign or not, and the fact that he's reportedly seeking a two year extension at $26 million is surely part of the attraction, given where pitching prices are headed.

Just more and more reasons not to give them 2 of the Jays top prospect if this is true. 1 year of Dickey no negotiating with him and no touching any young players of significance AND they want Syndergaard and D'Arnaud.

Take a hike! Man I will be happy if this falls apart.

Kinda salt in the wound reminding us that a package centered around Syndergaard would have brought in Gio Gonzalez last summer and allowed them to keep D'Arnaud.

Instead they get a guy 11 years older and have to add in TDA.

They do get an end of first round pick though if they qualified dickey and he doesn't sign, correct? That would offset one of the prospects, pretty much.

I am pretty sure they got rid of that.

Even though they can't pre-negiotiate and they're acquiring 1 year of Dickey, they'll re-up him at almost any cost if they deal prospects #1 and #3 for him. It would be a PR disaster if they don't.

But yeah as long as they give a qualifying offer if he left they'd get a pick tacked on at the end of the first round and the team that signs would lose their pick (although the pick is just eliminated now, wouldn't go to the Jays). That's assuming he doesn't blow up and is still a type A free agent or whatever they're calling it in the new system.

Edit - a 1st round pick that late is great, but the value is way way less than a good prospect who has already performed at several levels in the minors. The further out they are, the riskier they are, which is why guys like Olt or D'Arnaud are so coveted. For every guy like Syndergaard or D'Arnaud who makes their way through the system clearing each hurdle, there are way more Kevin Ahrens type guys who fall flat when they face pro pitching, or when they hit full season ball for the first time, etc.

AA held up the massive Marlins trade for 8 hours because of his internal conflict regarding the word/deal he had with Jeff Mathis.

From that, trading a couple of his coveted guys he's seen appreciate in value in the minors, and has/had penciled in (and told those guys as much) to be full time big leaguers in the next couple years, likely also has him internally conflicted and thus contemplating whether to pull out of the deal on that basis.

Certainly if the Mets are adding peices to make the deal bigger, and pushing the envelope as far as what they're asking for as far as prosepcts from Toronto, isn't helping...or is the media attention this has gotten in the past 30 hours, AA is maybe taking a step back.
