With the age of a guys like Bautista, Reyes, and Encarnacion I don't have any issues with bein aggressive in going for it now. The time for those guys to produce is now.

Yup...part of the reason you want to have young guys develop in the system are for situations like this. Holding on and holding out for all your prospects to be ready and be on the same team at the same time doesn't work...ask the Oilers. The rest of the team is junk and the development of those good players get dragged down by the holes on the rest of the team. The cupboards aren't bare in the Blue Jays farm system from what I've read anyways.
Plus, Gose was pumped up in similar fashion prior to this year and some of the shine if off him (unfairly) because he played in MLB this year and was what you'd expect from a young guy. D'Arnuad may turn out to be a fine MLB player, but there are a lot more factors than even hockey on how a young player's career will progress, so if you can get the right situation with a proven, top level talent addressing the needs of the team for the next couple seasons, you do it, and have faith in your scouts that you can get those peices down the road (young or established), and trust that the farm system that has developed Gose and D'arnaud, will be there to groom the next guy too.

They say its easier for knucklers to throw indoors.. Although there will be some offset since the mets satdium is safeco east when it comes to HRs.
Barnes is a reliever... Drafted real late. Kind of an unexpected name to come up. If its just d'arnaud and other prospects outside the top 10 for 1 year of Dickey and something else I think the value would be OK. I'd personally still rather stay away but if its just 1 top ten prospect I think at least they aren't getting robbed.

#mets, #jays still working to finalize. Jays willing to include d'arnaud, but said to want prospect back with dickey
As @Joelshermand1 said, #mets not taking gose in deal. Tor believed early offer of gose/arencibia rejected. #RA
So both sides agree d'arnaud can be centerpiece. Trying to finalize last piece.
Once players finalized, dickey now thought willing to talk extension with #jays

They brought the fences in last year, and it actually rated With a 1.069 factor for home runs vs. Rogers Centers 1.03.

If Gose is indeed out (if he was ever in) of the deal, and it something like TDA + Sierra (or someone of his ilk) + Lind for Dickey + Davis it will be a very decent trade for AA, despite the pain of losing TDA. Lind being included is probably a pipe dream, then again getting Dickey and Davis while only giving up TDA and another minor prospect is likely also a pipe dream...so who knows. I do trust AA though, so I am still betting we see a decent (at worst) swap.

There is also the small issue of who is going to catch Dickey, with the only real option being John "I can no longer hit myself out of a wet paper bag" Buck. JPA catching Dickey would be an absolute gong show. If the deal does go down, perhaps AA goes after another catcher? Or flips Buck somehow? I've read on another board that perhaps a Buck/Josh Thole swap will be a part of the Dickey deal...but to be quite honest I don't know much about Thole.

Better hitter worse power. Have read that he's not great defensively but dunno for certain. I agree with you that TDA, and mid level prospect or two for Dickey and Davis would be fair. It is so tough to find all around catchers, i think TDA being ranked the best catching prospect should be worth a lot and should be worth more than 1 year of dickey.

Source: Mets-Jays inching toward finish line. At least some players' medicals have been reviewed and OK'd. At this point, it's imminent.

Jschick is fast on that trigger, i was just about to post that tweet. Now we play the waiting game...also worth noting he mentions in his next tweek that D'Arnaud and Dickey are suppose to be the center pieces of the deal still

This is very exciting. We'll see how this final deal shapes up, but very exciting time for Jays fans.

+1. I wore my Lawrie jersey T to the gym this morning. Gearing up for what an incredible season it is going to be. Only wish I lived in TO. I would be buying season tickets.

If Thole goes, Mets could bring back a second catcher in the deal, I'm told. Probably John Buck.

Mets are also almost certain to get a pitcher back.

This is getting to be huge if the rumors are true.

Thole wouldn't be a bad option - left handed hitting catcher and he has decent split numbers vs. RHPs (for a catcher).

Thole is also known as the rare person who can catch Dickey competently.

Noah Syndergaard, who pitched at Single-A last year, is the pitcher the Mets have discussed getting back from Jays.
