Gordon had a good game. A goal and an assist, set up a good 2 on 1 in the 3rd with a saucer pass, but the player didn't score.

Elliotte Friedman's 30 thoughts featured a few of our prospects:
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/opin...out-fixer.html
Quote:
26. I got a lot of requests on Sunday for updates on prospects. More of that than anything else. So I emailed two NHL guys who have great AHL eyes and asked them to let me know who they liked. They weren't shy. Both agreed on (NHL team in parenthesis): Nino Niederreiter (NYI), Tomas Tatar (DET), Jason Zucker (MIN), Justin Schultz (EDM), Oliver Ekman-Larsson (PHO), Richard Panik & Tyler Johnson (TB), Jake Gardiner (TOR).
27. Executive A said he could've done two or three players per team, but cut down to: Jordan Eberle (EDM), Brayden Schenn (PHI), Brock Nelson (NYI), Nazem Kadri (TOR), Justin Faulk (CAR), Gustav Nyquist (DET), Roman Horak, Sven Baertschi & Barry Brust (CAL), Robin Lehner (OTT) and Curtis McElhinney (CLB).
28. If you thought that wasn't enough, here's the rest of the list from Executive B: TJ Brodie (CAL), Jacob Josefson (NJ), Chris Kreider (NYR), Nathan Beaulieu (MON), Charlie Coyle (MIN), Calvin Pickard (COL), Slava Voynov (LA), Lane MacDermid (BOS), Jaden Schwartz (STL), Zemgus Girgensons (BUF), Quinton Howden (FLA), Ryan Johansen, Cam Atkinson, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault (CLB), Ondrej Palat, Alex Killorn, Cory Conacher and Mark Barberio (TB), Eric Tangradi, Joe Morrow, Brian Strait, Brian Dumoulin, Robert Bortuzzo and Simon Despres (PIT), Zach Redmond (WIN).

Craig Button recently ranked the top 30 NHL prospects.
1. Justin Schultz
2. Evgeny Kuznetsov
3. Vladimir Tarasenko
4. Morgan Rielly
5. Nail Yakupov
6. Alex Galchenyuk
7. Mark Scheifele
8. Sven Baertschi
9. Jonathan Huberdeau
10. Ryan Strome
11. Brett Ritchie
12. Dougie Hamilton
13. Mikael Granlund
14. Nick Bjugstad
15. Malcolm Subban
16. Jakob Silfverberg
17. Jonas Brodin
18. Oscar Klefbom
19. Calle Jarnkrok
20. John Gaudreau
21. Jacob Trouba
22. Austin Watson
23. Mika Zibanejad
24. Andrei Vasilevski
25. Hampus Lindholm
26. Ryan Murray
27. Filip Forsberg
28. Mikhail Grigorenko
29. Jaden Schwartz
30. Boone Jenner
It doesn't really mean anything but Gaudreau's presence on the list (especially ahead of top 15 picks like Murray, Trouba, Zibanejad, Lindholm, Forsberg, Grigorenko, and Schwartz) is quite surprising to say the least. Even Bartschi is ahead of guys like Huberdeau, Hamilton, and Granlund. Perhaps Flames prospects are gaining a little more league-wide recognition (keeping in mind the Friedman post above as well)?

I can say there's a solid 8-10 scouts at the Heat games each night. Besides names like Baertschi, Gaudreau, and Brodie, there's been some extremely good compliments about Horak and Reinhart as well.
The only complaint I'd have about that list is that Scheifele is ahead of Baertschi, but oh well.

It's been a long time since two Flames prospects were ranked among the top 20 prospects by anyone ... actually, I'm not sure if it even happened before. Very encouraging to say the least ... I'd rate Sven ahead of Scheifele as well, but hey - he's listed ahead of highly-touted guys like Huberdeau, Strome, Hamilton and Granlund. Not bad. And Gaudreau? Being listed at #20 as a 4th round pick, ahead of numerous top 10 picks, is crazy. I'm sure Feaster has received a lot of calls on Johnny Hockey.
Pretty interesting to see Brust on that list on Friedman's segment, given that he isn't Flames property and also the oldest guy on that list by far (together with McElhinney). I saw Brust in numerous games when he played in Germany last year, and while I thought he was good, nothing seemed too special about his game, so I'm positively surprised that he has been very good for the Heat. Seeing Scorak and Brodie among those guys is a good sign. Maybe the Flames have some prospects after all?

Calgary Flames @NHLFlames #Flames Prospect Update: @UtahGrizz forward @mitch_wahl extended his point streak to 8 games with 2 assists against Alaska last night!
Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
Wahl leads the @UtahGrizz in scoring with 27 points (5 goals, 22 assists) in 20 games this year!
Nice to see Wahl continuing his history of doing well in the ECHL.

You are right about Seiloff, he is a very smart D man and the Flames are lucky to have him.You guys in Calgary are going to love this guy as much as we do here in Windsor. He is my fav Spitfire.
He has had to temper his big hits in the O because of dranonian poitically correct rules contrary to playing real hockey. But once in the NHL he will shine for sure.this kid is a throwback to old time hockey.A great all around player. He think he will play his game in the WJC but will be aware how far to take it.
Were so lucky in Windsor to watch a player of his caliber this season and hopefully next.
It will be nice to be able to see Hall one time and Seiloff the next on double header HNIC games when the NHL resumes.

Spitfires fan on Sieloff, courtesy of HF. While other fans may be hating on Sieloff, call him a "headhunter" or whatever, he is definitely a fan favourite. He is a guy opposing teams fans love to hate.

Coda Gordon had 3 assists in a 4-0 win today, now 5 points in 2 games. He now has 31 points (9+22) in 37 games.

sounds alot like Kronwall. Evryone calls him cheap and dirty because of his borderline hits, but Wings fans love him

That's exactly what the Flames need. A villain. Someone who stirs the pot and throws people off their game.

Seems like a really streaky player. Had a great October, terrible November, and now is picking it up again.

yeah, it seems that way.
September: 5 games, 1 g + 4 a = 5 p (1.00 ppg)
October: 13 games, 4 g + 8 a = 12 p (0.92 ppg)
November: 11 games, 1 g + 5 a = 6 p (0.54 ppg)
December: 8 games, 3 g + 5 a = 8 p (1.00 ppg)
Around a point per game in the other months.

Granlund had a goal and an assist and Ortio made 23 saves in an HIFK win tonight. Ortio got scored on by a 16-year-old playing his second league game but wins are rare enough for HIFK. I'd like to see him be a winning goalie rather than the MVP-by-default of a bad team.
The team's fans are trying to get the coach changed. Stephane Robidas who played in HIFK this fall just commented somewhere that you can really feel the pressure to win inside the team.
Highlights: http://www.ruutu.fi/ohjelmat/sm-liiga/hifk-tps-18122012
Ortio also played against Sweden in the Euro tournament, which was a 4-1 loss with an empty netter (if I recall correctly). I don't know at all how that tournament went.
