I heard that around 120 tickets were bought by people to admit their dogs. I couldn't get a good look at how many there were, but I wouldn't say there were that many.

I bought 2 dog tickets just to support the SPCA, perhaps others did the same. I considered bring my dogs but I figured they were likely to get freaked out.

Weisbrod just said on AM 770 that Baertschi is having concussion symptoms. They're going to be very very patient with his head injury.
EDIT - He made it sound like Sven won't be out long-term, but they're still going to be patient with his injury - as they should.

Didn't Sven have a concussion in the playoffs last year? Or maybe it was late in the season?

At the World Juniors last year (Switzerland's first or second game), then he missed about a month of action in Portland before he returned.
EDIT: Just checked, and he played in 2 games at the WJC (didn't finish the second game, on December 28), and returned to action in Portland on January 16. So, he was out just under 3 weeks.

Also, to all you Lower Mainlandians, you can't beat this deal: From now on, every Tuesday game will be $10!
I mean c'mon. I'm probably preaching to the choir right now, but that is a ridiculous deal. I can go see a PIJHL game for $7 or a freakin' AHL game for $10. Not a hard choice. The Vancouver Giants aren't even as cheap as that and they suck balls.

Randy Sportak from the Sun talks with Weisbrod about Baertschi's injury: http://www.calgarysun.com/2012/12/05...tschi-on-shelf
Quote:
“I don’t know if we can say (it’s a concussion). Most of the issue has proven to be with his neck,” said John Weisbrod, the Flames assistant GM of player personnel.
“He had some symptoms the night of the game that would be consistent with getting hit, but it would be over-stating it that he had a concussion.
“He got hit, so he was a little rattled. At the time, he was behaving like a guy that got his bell rung. But when we saw him the next morning and had the group of doctors in, it seems to be more a neck, whiplash-type of issue.
“He has some soreness on the base of his neck.”
|
Quote:
“We’d be careful and cautious with anybody, but he’s a young player that hasn’t experienced this kind of physicality consistently,” Weisbrod said. “We’d be particularly careful about putting him back in the fray.”
|
Quote:
“We’ve been really optimistic with what the medical people have said to this point. I tend to think he’ll be fine in the end,” Weisbrod said before watching Tuesday night’s tilt in Abbotsford, B.C. “We certainly don’t feel any pressure or need to put in him in the lineup any earlier than we’re 100% comfortable.”

Whiplash could be much worse than a concussion.

Not sure. If you listen to Ryan Pinder's pre-game show (on at 12:45 pm MT) he should tell you.

@NHLFlames
The @abbotsfordheat have sent David Eddy, Adam Estoclet and Michael Ferland to the @UtahGrizz More ~ http://bit.ly/TYXp6O
Kinda wish Ferland would be given a greater opportunity. Does this mean some returning players tonight?
