I think the group just had bad luck in running into one of these roaming herds that the show has touched on but never really explained.

The cabin scene was kind of weird. Dude seems to have survived a year in the woods but really has no idea what's going on in the world. I have no problem with how he met his end - it shows how dark the world has become. Dude was crazy, threatening Rick with the rifle and then threatening to open the front door, so obviously he was expendable. Sacrificed to save the group. What an awful world they live in now.

I actually think they could've gone further with the scene in order to really solidify The Governer as a bad, bad dude. They could've built up some real character hatred in the audience without being overly graphic.

But the scene was definitely tense.

So things I learnt last night.

>Zombie armour, is there anything duct tape can't do?

>Andrea is good at laundry. 8 months on the road and you bra and panties are still white.

Agreed with the M character, I am getting a little sick of her bitter beer face. They could use a flash back or some character development for those of us that do not know the comics.

How can the dude in the cabin still be sleeping when you have 4 people break into your house and a horde of walkers at the door. hahaha that was kinda ridiculous and that entire sequence should have been left out.

that's why i lol'd extra at that line, because it worked on two levels simultaneously. you could only hope that the writers did that on purpose, but then again these are the same writers that are kind of making Michonne a lame scowling mute when she's supposed to be a cool badass.

the cabin guy thing didn't make sense but maybe they were just using that to reinforce how ruthless they've become, just casually murdering without a second thought. you can't let that stuff bug you too much, otherwise everything in the show would annoy you, like how every bladed weapon is a lightsaber that effortlessly slices though any amount of flesh and bone. if melee weapons were that powerful in first person shooter games, nobody would even bother carrying a gun around.

I can't tell if you're joking? He was hiding...as best he could in a one room shack.

It was just a random encounter with a hermit who has probably lived there for years, not just a little while.

There's a lot in that sequence if you look.

When they first pull off the road there's a walker coming up behind them and they pay no mind to it. In season 1 or 2 they would've lost their minds. They've obviously adapted to this new world and can recognize real threats.

There's 300+ million people in the US and most of them are zombies now. They are everywhere. What looked like a manageable situation in the beginning quickly became unmanageable.

They come across the hermit in a random encounter and nonchalantly kill him and feed him to walkers to escape. It shows a callousness that wasn't there before. It shows, to me anyways, a regression of humanity to a tribal state, if you're not in our tribe you're expendable, you can't be trusted.

Sometimes we need to look beyond the special effects to see the story.

Further to that, I would sugges the walkers would have no idea that buddy was in the shack. The dead dog smell might have acted as camo. We have seen it in the past. The smell or rotten flesh hangs on your clothes (I know this from experience). I would suggest buddy didn't wash too much so he most likely stank like dead dog. Easy peasy camo.

He was also threatening them with a gun. What they did was perfectly reasonable as an act of self-defence in any world.

Not sure stambing someone in the back once disarmed is still in the realm of self-defence........in the context of the show I have no issues with how they reacted.

I think that was maybe the worst episode of the series so far.

Really? It didn't seem too bad. It's another transition episode for the big mid-season finale next week.

Considering they aren't afraid of killing off major characters in this show, I was worried Glen was going to eat it. It really ups the tension when you can't be sure that they will always make it out alive (with the exception of Rick, of course).

Michonne has purposefully only said what is needed. She has some information that she is being careful with, and will share it when it will benefit her.

Next week a big element will be a confrontation between Merle and Darryl. I'm guessing this ends with Darryl killing Merle.

I'm really at a loss of where this season goes from here. If Rick's group raids Woodbury, and then Governor's men know about the prison, do we get a double hostage situation?

Wouldn't that be more true for him to have the right to shoot people breaking into his cabin? We are talking about the US here. I don't think, if things were civilized, Rick's group could plead self-defense in that situation.

Disagree, while I can't think of an episode to put in that place, I think last night set up a lot of future conflict. It solidified Daryl's position in the group, "he is all in".

Also, Andrea struggling into tight pants, and Maggie topless saves this from being Worst Episode Ever, insert Comicbook Guy

I thought last night really set the tone of close this group is and how their legend is growing. What they've been able to accomplish and right now without any attitudes or Shane going insane, they might be closer then ever. I thought it was a great episode

Allegiances were solidified on both sides I think. The Governor also questioned Merle's commitment to Woodbury. Merle said his allegiances lay with the Governor and that if the shiz went down he'd have no problem going up against Daryl.

Another effect of Merle claiming to aligning with Woodbury will come into question with the reappearance of Michonne at Woodbury. Merle had told the Govenor that he had killed Michonne. Merle will have no choice but to realign with Rick and his crew in a confrontation.
