I think the biggest reason he doesn't talk about CFL is that TSN has the rights. He may not like the two owners and how pathetic the Argos are but he hates TSN more than anything else out there.
I think because Argos won they will talk about it whether he wants to or the guest forces him into it. If Calgary had won it would have been mentioned in passing and on the roundtable and that is it.
And yes I listen to it on podcasts which makes it easier to listen and skip some of the boring parts. I know the show is a huge homer broadcast for the Jays and Raptors but sometimes that is half the fun in listening to the ridiculous excuses/projections for those teams.

I still think Kevin Glenn deserves a ton of credit and as much as the Grey Cup is the biggest stage, sometimes you're just off and there's nothing you can do about it. I don't think it speaks to how he handles pressure or big games, he was great last week in a huge game against an incredibly tough team.
|
I think they should have used play fakes and gone to Lewis more to start the game to get the LB's a few steps off the line.
Glenn was bad and is always bad if his first option (in this case Cornish) is gone. He is too scared to improvise for the most part and doesn't want to make the tough throws if forced to change from what he wanted to do.

I thought the Grey Cup looked like a cheap piece of tin, when I saw it from the bottom as the players were lifting it up over their heads.
Kevin Glen looked like an amateur today. When he failed to hit that player with a 9 yard pass out in the open, I knew it was likely going to be a bad game for Glen, and it was. Bo Levi Mitchell looked good. He reads the play much quicker than Glen does. Doesn't seem to panic like Kevin Glen. Right now, I'm still not sure what hurts worse. The loss or my ears from listening to Justin Bieber at Half time.

I didn't think McCown had much of a hate on for the CFL or Argos, I know he doesn't like Brailey owning two teams, but I agree what Cohon said on his show days ago, he wants to sell the Lions to the right guy to keep that team profitable. McCown seemed understanding and happy to know there was a deadline in which Brailey has to give up one team. I think Lemieux playing for a hockey team and owning it, is just as bad, and Toronto media got over that one. I expect McCown to have CFLers on his show to celebrate the victory. I know when Toronto won in 2004 and had them on his show, he even said he loved interviewing CFL players because they are the nicest guys.

Got home and watched Taylor's kick return again and the holding call looked even weaker in real speed. Happens probably on most kicks somewhere on the field, and the Argo falling 4 steps later was when the flag came out sealed it for the ref, who was of course on the Argo sideline. I commented when when was twenty yards back into watch for the yellow flag graphic coming up, as sure enough, up it popped without me even seeing the "penalty". Still may have been uphill for the Stamps, but that was a 10 point swing on IMO a dubious call at a highly crucial moment.
Didn't see anything in real speed on the Belli disqualification in real time, and as noted, TSN didn't look too hard to find the cause either, instead choosing to spend 20 seconds following him off the field and into the depths of SkyDome instead.

Well...the good news is they'll have a 1 in 4 chance of making it to the Grey Cup next year.

That marginal holding penalty was a big call but at the end of the day the Stampeders laid an egg on the big stage. This was the worst Grey Cup in a long time as it was over in the 1st quarter and the Stampeders never even made it interesting after the first play interception on Ray.
At the end of the day when you consider all the injuries and adversity the team played through the season has to be considered a success. However to lose like this in the Grey Cup is embarrassing and some questions have to be asked about the coaching staff as how does a team come out in the biggest game of the year and play so bad?

i was thinking the same thing, there was no way that TD was going to stand... i was waiting for the call as well and the toronto officials didnt disapoint. in saying that, the Argos were the better team today by far, but how they didnt have even 1 penalty in the 1st half?? cmon

I thought the Argos player really sold the holding call, but it was so out in the open and he clearly had a piece of his jersey. He really didn't need to grab him like that to begin with but when the whole game has not been going your way and you finally get a play called back like that, I'd be upset. The PI call against the Argos was pretty weak though, Stamps just could not get into the end zone.
I'm not the biggest fan of the Stamps wide recievers outside of Nik lewis.

This is a wishful thinking but I'd to one day see the Grey Cup Champions go up against the SuperBowl Champions. It can be for the North American Championship Cup if you wanted to call it that.
Through, the NFL would stomp all over the CFL teams no problem.

It would never happen there's nothing to gain but losses if your the NFL. Remember in the NFL/AFL friendly games with the CFL in the 50's/60's. It was ok when American teams beat CFL teams, but when the Tiger-Cats beat the Bills they never had another friendly game ever.

Kind of embarrassed and pi**ed off at the CFL right now. Yes the Stamps shat the bed but whenever they got a spark the imaginary flag was always there to save the day. Not that I didn't expect it, I mean it's the CFL and Toronto. But here I am propping the CFL to my American friends and relatives saying it's a pretty good league then they embarrass me with this bush league sh**.

I was thinking the Glenn joke job would come against the Riders then he does not even start. But lo and behold fate puts him in against the Lions and he pulls it off. But as could be expected from a backup quality QB the big game was too much for him to handle.
Brutal game to watch / not entertaining and frustrating to the hilt.

Props for Glenn for his great game against B.C but he was terrible tonight. Last game as a Stampeder most likely. This will be the Tate and Mitchell show for the next few seasons.

In an unrelated note, it was nice to see TSN use graphics that aren't horrifically out of date. When Sportsnet is dishing out much better looking overlays, and has been for years, somethings wrong.
