A lot of storylines for this show start out as unnecessary but never seem to end that way.

Don't think so but not sure if they ever clarified that.
Harry was sleeping with Dex's mother as I recall, mind you he would have had to have been having an affair with her for years.

Still find myself disappointed in the show. It just seems cartoonish to me now. The storylines, characters, the dialogue, I just can't get into it anymore and this used to be a must watch show for me.
I'm pretty much take it or leave it now and it's such a shame. Jumped the shark doesn't even come close to describing my feelings towards Dexter these days.

Too bad. For me, this is the best the show has been since Season 4.

No, there is no biological relation at all. There was an episode in season one where Dexter's real father dies. It was only a small unimportant item, but Harry was not his biological father. He had donated blood to Dexter when he was a child and found proof of this in his home to confirm he was his biological father.

I for one loved Sunday's episode. I am really curious how they handle the potential Deb/Dex/Hannah love triangle.
I think we could see a Deb/Hannah showdown (for more than just Dexter mind you) where Deb actually murders Hannah since I don't think Dexter will.

You are correct. Take anyone who hasn't seen the show and ask them to watch this season series as a start and they would turn it off.
I watch it as it's part of my "I'm board with editing right now" Monday afternoon, however if anything better pops up I'll be watching it over Dexter. However I really want to boink his new girlfriend Yvonne Strahovski... I've had a soft one beggin' for the viagra since she's been on Chuck. Also I'm a huge fan of Ray Stevenson and I wish he'd get more roles.
Dexter has definitely been dying a slow paper cut for 3 years.

Because it was a "real conversation" and it was fantastic. Too much of the show is about how Dexter will turn the scenario around. It was a moment that he couldn't kill and feed his demon and Dexter was stuck there; he learned the humanistic side of why he should die - right when he found true love, because he killed someone else who found the "impossible" true love.

Thought this episode wasn't that great (that's why I'm curious why most of you actually thought this episode was good). Outside the scenes with Dexter and/or Issac, the episode was boring.
This whole season has been rather boring. I still like the show, but if Dexter, Hanna, or Issac isn't in a scene then it just isn't entertaining. Luckily Dex is in a lot of it.
I feel they are stretching a 6 episode arc into a 12 episode season.

I can't really pinpoint it but I found the entire episode engaging. It's rare when I can watch anything for any stretch of time without fiddling with my phone but I watched all 50+ minutes straight through. The humour throughout really hit the mark. The Scenes with Dexter and Issac were very well done too, not just the scene towards the end but when the team was investigating Dexter's quick kill in his apartment.
The chemistry between Dexter and Hannah seems real as well. I never cared about any of his love interests before, due to poor acting or not caring about the character but they've done a great job with Hannah.
Nothing really crazy happened but it was solid storytelling and acting throughout the episode, something we haven't seen in Dexter in a while.

I think that's why it was such a polarizing episode. Some people (myself included) have given up on the character development and acting in this show and watch it strictly as popcorn TV. If Dexter isn't on the hunt or on the run, I'm bored.
I have different expectations for a show like Breaking Bad, so the fly episode, which was also action-free, is one of my favorites.
Also, I still really hate Rita's kids.

I'll agree with that, but to me, that's more of an indication of how bad 5 and 6 were as opposed to pumping up S7.

Just watched and told my wife that Argentina is a top 5 episode of the series. Fantastic stuff.
Isaak Sirko is the easily the second best 'just passin' through' character to Arthur Mitchell and Stevenson deserves an Emmy for his peformance.

i can't explain how sharply the show has turned around from the past few seasons. the scene between Isaak and Dexter in the bar was on the level we haven't seen since his brother in season 1 or Trinity in season 4. where the hell was that kind of writing and acting in season 5 or 6?
i kinda wish that they never even had seasons 5 or 6. Dexter as a series has always seemed like it would have been better served to be done in a shorter frame, like 5 seasons total. Showtime drawing it out as long as possible has definitely hurt it. i think the writers had the first couple of seasons nailed down, and they had the last few down as well. but then they were forced to toss in a bunch more stuff in the middle and drag stuff out. if i'm right, then hopefully the last season will be just as good or better then what we're seeing this year

The scene with Dexter and Sirko in the bar is my favorite scene on the show next to the dinner table scene with Dexter and the Mitchells in season 4. Also, I haven't read through the entire thread, but it's good to see Jennifer Carpenter get the recognition she deserves. I've felt she has done an excellent job of portraying Debra Morgan from the beginning, and has only amped up her performance over the past 2-3 seasons.
On the whole, maybe I'm in the minority here, but apart from season 3 I have felt that Dexter has been a quality show through and through. And while season 3 wasn't my favorite, it had its good moments and it didn't stop me from continuing to watch.

So Many Storylines
Issak
Laguerta finding out about Dexter
Deb falling for Dexter
Hannah & Dexter
Deb hating Hannah
Quinn being a dirty cop and working for Ukrainian Mob
Batista's new restaurant
Astor's addiction to Marijuana
Matsuka's new eyeglasses.
I am loving this season.

I thought the episode had some really great moments. The two conversations stood out for me. Deb's line "You're a serial killer, and I'm more ####ed up than you are" lol
How many translucent tops/black bras does Hannah own?
Kids are a pain in the ass, but they provide tension I guess. Was kinda hoping we would never see them again.
Quinn storyline is meh.
Cleaver for dicing? WTF?

Another groan inducing episode. Debra is the only saving grace as far as I'm concerned and Masuka still had the best line while having about 20 seconds of screen time.
Hannah is hot and...hot...and ehmm...hot. Not anything else, really.
Can't believe the dam kids are back. Why? Why?
Issak is simply too cliche to be a good vilain and can he look any more non-ukrainian? I don't mind the actor but Denzel Washington looks more Ukrainian than him. Same goes for the club manager, not to mention the nerdy side-kick with a typical Ukrainian name, Jurg. Minor stuff, but it doesn't help to make the whole Koshka brotherhood believeable.
