Yea, I was sort of thinking someone else in the prison. But that could have been a bit much. "Oh hey, more new characters suddenly appeared".
As for his sanity, I hope he keeps it. When he hung up the phone the last time, it seemed to say "And that's the end of that". Sane, badass, in-control Rick is more fun.

Sets it up for a huge season finale where the prison group raids Woodbury to rescue Maggie and Glenn. Or...sooner. With the pace this season has been going, they can't drag out a hostage situation for 10 more episodes.
|
I could see them just putting Maggie and Glenn out of focus for 6-7 episodes and letting them get rescued as the finale.

I liked the episode, loved the overkill on the walker with Carol's knife in his neck.
I think with Daryl finding Carol alive it is going to spark their romance. I feel like it has been teased a little and with Daryl "losing" her it will open the door for them.
I also liked how they re-used the idea of being covered in zombie guts to cover the smell. It was brilliant the first time around and just as brilliant (albeit accidental) this time around.

Did Michonne follow those walkers, to where she found Glen, Maggie, and Merle? If not, why didn't she just kill them? She doesn't strike me as the type to let them continue on.
Where did the Axel, or whatever the mustached inmate's name was, go for the entire episode?

I would assume she was using them as cover/protection since she was wounded. I would also assume she knew the area a little bit, since she was there for a day or two before Merles crew came looking for her. She probably knew the store was there and went there to get medical supplies for her injury.
He was trying to fix the generators, I believe Darryl said that right near the start.

They could have made the telephone bit way more interesting if the voice on the other side was clearer and gave us, the audience, a clue that the people on the other line were the other dead members from the group. also they should have had the camera slowly pan from the phone to a disconnected phone line on the other end.

But they did make it clear who the voices were, Lori said who they all were. Or do you mean make it more clear so it was easier for the viewer to figure out who he was talking to before Lori told him?
I think it was pretty good the way they did it, even Rick didn't realize who he was talking to until Lori told him. I think it would have been weird if it was obvious to the audience who he was talking to, but yet he couldn't figure it out himself.

My question is why does M feel the need to help/support Rick's group? She knows nothing of them. How does she know they are no nutcases like Woodbury? It seems a bit too fast for a character that has previously shown herself to be careful of strangers.
On the face the people of Woodbury seem more sane than those living in a jail.

I believe Michonne heard Glen & Maggie talking about the prison being close enough to get to & no doubt there were road signs along the way that would get her there -at least that's what made sense to me when she showed up at the fence.
I really thought the phone call was well done - esp the part where you see Rick's reaction to hearing about how safe this place is supposed to be then finding out it's the dead who have been "talking" to him.

Perhaps Michonne is thinking that whoever are enemies of her enemies are her friends? Or more likely to be friends than foes? It would seem that she knows she needs people to help her out, injured as she is. She's able to observe Glen & Maggie without them knowing about it & that would reveal more about who they are (you'd think) than the facade she was presented with at Woodbury where they knew she was looking.

Also there is no doubt that Andrea talked about her group, and Michonne knew that Merle was looking for his brother. When Merle recognized Glen and asked about his brother Michonne would know that was Andrea's group before they got split up and that they would be good people.

Maybe you are correct. I forgot they mentioned the jail when talking about grabbing the duck.
I also was happy with how the phone turned out. I had a flash of this turning into the walking dead/lost....

I think Rick and Michonne meeting is going to make for one amazingly hardcore zombie killing duo. The crappy thing is the formal "introduction" is a bit hindered by her inability to speak with so many walkers all around her.
Like everyone else, I hope this hostage situation doesn't go on for more than three episodes.
I hope Merle and Darryl never come back in contact with eachother. In fact, if they ever did, I think they'd be so far apart mentally that Darryl would end up abandoning him (or killing him in favour of protecting the group).
I was thinking ahead to future seasons, and I'm wondering if they're going to advance in time where Carl and the baby are around the ages of, say, Carl being 18 and the little girl being 6-8 years old. And if so, how are they going to advance their age in future seasons without completely scrapping Carl and opting for an older looking teenager who looks like Carl would look like grown up? It'll be interesting for sure. I hope they go for another six or more seasons.

I have a feeling we'll see Daryl have to choose between Merle and the group at some point, and he'll choose the group.
Since Daryl is essentially Han Solo, I could see them setting it up in a similar way, where you think he's going to abandon the group, only to return and save the day.

My GF and I had two theories on the phone call leading up to this episode. I thought it was all in his head, and that he was just having a psychotic episode. My GF thought it might have been Carol on the other line asking for help. Both seemed reasonable, but apparently I was right. Yeah!

I am on board with the Daryl/Merle confrontation. I think that will be the mid-season cliff hanger. He'll have to choose between Merle and the group and/or Carole. But then again that seems like such an obvious plot line that they may throw a wrench in the whole thing...

Well the point of the phone was that Rick was going crazy. It would have been way more awesome of us knowing it was Lori and the others who died before Rick realizes it.
