I'm so sick of all the little dick hoppers here at UFV who are all, "Oh, Nuge. He's so cute. And Eberle's eyes are so dreamy..."
Can't wait till this weekend is over.
This is the least mature thing I've ever read you post on this forum. It's shockingly out of character.
Keep up the good hockey-related work, but try not to let the puck-bunnies get you twisted up man, you are better than that. I come in here to get away from the hot heads on the main forum.
Both games against OKC are sold out, as per the team's official Twitter account.
I saw on HF that the Oilers have a bus tour package for $260 (not bad). Should be a fun weekend to attend, but hope regular Heat fans are ready for the influx of Oil fans who are quite different from Nuck fans (usually a good thing).
Here's to a great weekend of hockey!
it's interesting that the oilers may the lone team in the nhl that has the opportunity for their 1st line to play together and continue building chemistry during the lockout.
Instead, the barons have hall/eberle/hopkins playing on different lines, at least that's what the oilers twitter account stated over the past week.

I was shocked that came out of PMM's mouth, but that made it even funnier to me.

A couple weeks ago I tried to get tickets, but online the only seats I could choose were so-called "best available" row 2 behind the penalty box. Crap view from there so I waited a while, thinking they never sell out, no problem getting tickets a couple days before....

Sorry guys haha, it's been a month of hearing exactly that though. I'm not a grizzled veteran at the Calgary/Edmonton rivalry like you guys are, so it really really grinds my gears to hear it damn near every day haha.
“I think the hype came with the Oilers because they have so many first-overall picks. But sometimes, it doesn’t really matter when you get picked. It’s about how much you make progress over the next couple years after you get drafted,” said Baertschi, the 13th-overall selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and one of several up-and-comers skating for the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat during the big-league labour stoppage.
“(The Oilers’ prospects) are all great players, they’re awesome players to get drafted first overall or whatever, but if you look forward, the next couple of years, maybe things change. Maybe guys who got drafted late, in the end, they are outstanding. Maybe they’re better than some first-round picks.”

A friend of mine and I are going when the Charlotte Checkers are in town (he's a huge Whalers/Canes fan). Was wondering if there are any decent packages available for flights/hotels or even out of town ticket deals out there. Shot in the dark, thought I'd try. Thanks in advance!
Im going to Fridays game. I'm excited to see the likes of Bartschi and Schultz play. Probably wont be cheering for either team, but if I had to I would say OkC

Those word from Bartschi impress me to no end. This kid wants to dominate for years and not rest on his laurels. Show those first overalls whats what and back those statements up! GO SVEN!

Alright, I didn't want to be the one to bring this up, but I'm a Heat fan first and foremost. I hope I'm not making a mountain out of mole hill here.
Today, there was quite the little argument going on between Ryan Pinder and Jason Botchford (of the Province) and Dave Sheldon (former Heat PBP guy, CKNW sports host).
Pinder was on Dave Sheldon's show on CKNW tonight. Sheldon starts off the interview by talking about Schultz right away. In his answer to Sheldon's comment, Ryan went on quite the rant about how Vancouver media is not doing their job by covering the Heat from a local angle.
A well-mannered argument ensues with Ryan arguing that point on the one side and Sheldon arguing that Vancouver media don't have to cover the Heat from a local angle, they're going to cover it from an NHL angle (the Oilers young stars in town).
During Sheldon's interview with Ryan, Ryan specifically excluded Dave as one of the ones that don't cover the Heat. Dave, despite Pinder reprieving him, groups himself in the Vancouver media and takes offense over what Ryan said.
Despite that, it ends in good nature.
Here's where to hear the audio of the interview (Select "Nov. 11" for the date and 9:00PM for the time: http://www.cknw.com/news/audiovault/index.aspx). I highly suggest you listen to it.
Along comes Botchford on Twitter and starts making mocking what Pinder said on the show:

The @abbotsfordheat finally get media and crowds. What do they do? Lift their head out of the public trough long enough to rip media. Nice.
Quote:
@abbotsfordheat "you are media not fans..." Gimme a break.

Ryan Pinder @RyanPinder
To clarify @botchford, great to see lots of coverage of this weekend's games, wish more were picking up on the great start by the home team.

Jason Botchford @botchford
@RyanPinder "maybe under their button-up shirts they have Canuck t-shirts..." Sorry, I'd rather cover ballet. I'm done with abby.

Ryan Pinder @RyanPinder
My count @botchford, come out twice and written two 'Canucks' articles (Gardiner/Schultz), I'd love to see you writing about Heat too.

Jason Botchford @botchford
@RyanPinder "heat-favoured articles" you can't be for real.

@RyanPinder I was there for 2 wolves games, the marlies and the barons. Maybe math isn't your bag.
I know Twitter arguments happen all the time, but am I wrong to be proud of Ryan Pinder for calling out the Vancouver media and sticking up for his team? Again, I hope I'm not making a mountain out of a mole hill, but this just sort of struck a cord with me. The only quality reporting we get on the Heat on a regular basis is from Dan Kinvig and he does a damn fine job. I've been watching the Heat for four years now and Ryan is not wrong. The Vancouver media don't cover the Heat.
What do you all think?

As a Heat fan I think they should cover the local media. As a Calgary fan I wouldn't want to listen to constant talk about the Vancouver affiliate if they were located in Airdrie.
I think having your farm team located in enemy territory is a mistake. The deal is nice. So is the proximity. But it asks to much of the local fan base and media IMO.
