On a side note, is that worth watching?
I think my thoughts are similar to VFF - I think this season is better than last, but the show has lost me to a large extent. It's just too hokey at this point, and the characters have not really evolved/developed much. That said, it's still a nice show, and I'll watch it until the end.

Yes, Homeland is the best thing on TV right now. And that is with Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones on the air as well.

Whoa whoa whoa. Homeland is indeed good, but doesn't hold a candle to Mad Men or Breaking Bad, IMO.
The depth just isn't there, but give it a couple more seasons. Hard to judge a show after 15 episodes against shows that have had 60-80.

Homeland is slowly creeping into the same sentence as Mad Men and Breaking Bad for top show supremacy.

It's good, for sure. I love watching it and I think it's got great potential. But part of a great show is the longevity and how the story is carried on beyond that initial punch. The Wire wasn't the greatest show on TV until they started to really put it together in seasons 4 and 5 and the finale was perfect IMO.
Homeland is still in that ironing out the creases phase, I want to see how they handle some more difficult storylines before I judge it alongside what are, in my opinion, two of the best shows ever.

That's good to hear, because I'm stalled on the the 3rd season and am wondering why people have always raved about it. I thought the second seasons was pretty meh.

Random comments:
Louis -- axed. Kinda a surprise. He had so much build up as a pest for Dexter, then disappears. Guess the writers just wanted to kill off any remnants of that awful season 6.
Isaac -- Good villain. I like that the villain is getting tougher. Season 6 had the wimpiest villain of all; 5 was just uninspiring.
Masuka -- Needs more airtime, though in small doses.
Hanna -- I'm bored by her. I hope something spices up her storyline.
Deb -- Love her. She gets the most range to act. Crying; Prying; Lying; Throwing tantrums in elevators. Love her character to pieces.

The current Dexter season is the best one since Trinity. I'm surprised that they've managed to turn things around a bit after the previous season, which I thought was a total joke. ####ing Colin Hanks, goddamn ####-####ing TABLEUS, ####ing plot holes everywhere and a twist that everyone predicted since second episode, people acting like they're the crew of ####ing Prometheus. Jesus that was awful.

The second season is by far the worst season.
One of the things that made the Wire so great was it's complexity -- a massive cast, complex storylines that carryover between seasons and well-developed characters. All the storylines tie in beautifully between season (except the second). It's like they tried to start fresh in the second season, but then realized at the end they had a winning formula in the first season, so they went back to it in the third.
If you liked the first, you'll like the rest of the series. And it only gets better and more intriguing as it goes, building off the groundwork it laid down in season 1.
Imo, there's still nothing that even comes close to how good that series was.

I'm with malcolm on this one. I like Homeland, but it can get a little cliche at times with the saving-the-day-at-the-last-minute sorta stuff, or writing themselves out of corners with magic technology or the fact that there's only one person in the world that can solve a problem.
I'm hoping they get a away from some of that in the future and add take a bit of that Hollywood thriller aspect out of it.

Not to derail a thread about Dexter, but people who complain about season 2 being boring or lacking connectivity to the other seasons clearly need to rewatch it. Season 2 actually contains the most critical moment of the series . And the storyline isn't any more or less boring than any other season, it just doesn't instantly grab you like the other seasons. But episodes 9-12 in season 2 are to me the best run of episodes the show ever had. Emotionally powerful, critical to the future of the show and superbly acted. Season 2 is probably my favorite, though choosing between 2 and 3 is almost impossible.
In fact season 2 is the most important because it showed people this wasn't going to be a standard police procedural, but that this was a broader exploration of the issues that have led to the decline of urban America. Season 1 may have hinted the show was about more, but season 2 made clear this show had great ambitions. People were disappointed most of the first seasons drug players had a reduced role in season 2, but that was a necessary means to advance the ambitions of the show.

I agree with you that season 2 is excellent when viewing the series for the second time, but I think just about everyone enjoys it less than the other seasons on the first viewing. Of course, the fact that The Wire is so enjoyable on a second and third viewing is just more evidence that it's on a completely different level than all but a select few other shows in the history of television.
Dexter is a fun show, and I'm really enjoying season 7, but it's popcorn TV. I'm not going to be picking up additional details if I rewatch it someday. I'll just be noticing more plot holes.

Pretty 'meh' episode, but maybe that's because I was only half paying attention.
The Hanna/Dexter fata scene was pretty guessable from the moment she was introduced on the show.

Once Dexter had Hanna prepped on his slab I was still shocked to see him cut her binds loose though.
This season Dexter is breaking all his habitual rules about pretty much everything.
Can't wait to see if he kills her afterwards or they team up like the Lumen season.
Quinn is going to get busted for the missing evidence with the log book.
I think its inevitable that Deb gets killed off by Sirko or Dexter saves her.

I think that other cop that was going into the evidence room is going to take the fall for the missing evidence. I'm pretty sure this will be Quinn's last season though...whether he is kicked off the force or dies.
