I'm hoping that the writers bring in Yvonne Strahovski as Dexter's new love interest. Smoking hot!

I was thinking that was the plan when Dexter dropped the swab in her first episode.
Would be an interesting dynamic as he seems to actually like her, he was with Rita for appearance sake the whole time.

he genuinely liked Lila and Lumen too. i don't see things ending nicely with the new hottie, though i hope she gets as much screen time as possible. also nice to see Yvonne Strahovski in a serious series instead of the Chuck cheesefest

I was hoping for worse for Louis. I knew Dex wouldn't be the one to kill him, but I was hoping for something pretty gruesome.

The show actually bounced back in my estimation the last two episodes. That was solid TV.

Maybe it's the increased quality in other shows but it's probably 7 seasons is wearing on me, but I'm just not as into this show as I used to be. To me, it's cartoonish, whether it's the stories, the dialogue or the suspense, I'm just not into it. Maybe it's always been like that and I'm just getting bored of it.
I will still watch it as part of my Sunday viewings and still consider it a top 10 current show, but it used to be top 3 for me, so it's taken a big dive in my books.

maybe I am remembering wrong but didn't he just have Doakes locked up and Lila killed him completely on her own?

Surprisingly (at least to me) I agree with VFF.
The show is definitely missing something that it had earlier on. It may be that I watch a lot more "better" shows than I did when I started Dexter but it just doesn't grab me as it used to.
I find myself ffwding through parts of episodes that get slow to "get to the end" which kind of feels like where I am with the show overall. I am still interested but at this point I think I watch to see the overall ending to episodes (and the show) rather than am interested in every little detail that the show has.
The Deb-Dexter talks seem way too slow and boring for me and fairly predictable in where they end up.

so Deb knows that Dexter was the bay harbor butcher, yet doesn't even ask him why Doakes ended up dead? i'm not understanding that at all

Uh oh, I agree with something that moon believes in. Maybe I need to re think
Diane, I agree that it's the best since season four but to me, that's not saying a ton seeing as how much is disliked five and six. It's definitely better but it's not great, in my humble opinion of course.

At least Rita's kids aren't in the series anymore.

This is what is ruining it for me this season. The writers blew it.
One of my favorite things in the Dexter series is the tense stuff around the bay harbor butcher.

I think she asked him about it in one of the first episodes this sesaon and he just said something like "You don't want to know."

ya I guess it depends on how you look at it
compared to Dexter 5/6 it's like a different show, and while it's still great, it's on the same night as Homeland so it has a tough comparison
