It doesn't really matter what the authorities say, there are always people out there who refuse to believe the reports and get the hell out while they can. Inevitably, these are the people who tend to become victims.

Maybe they should be invoiced for the costs to save them, maybe.

Agreed, I just meant the likelihood of it being VERY serious is higher due to the degree of certainty from everyone involved

Yeah, it definitely looks very serious already and the storm hasn't even really hit. My in-laws in Long Island live by the coast, and a good chunk of the center of their town is already flooded.

Oct 29 - The U.S. Coast Guard on Monday rescued 14 of the 16 crew who abandoned the replica tall ship HMS Bounty while in the path of Hurricane Sandy off North Carolina, using helicopters to lift them from life rafts, the Coast Guard said.

Based on this:
I think we can safely say now is the time for people in the NE to crack each others heads open and feast on the goo inside.

Oh man, I was on that HMS Bounty replica just a few months ago. Sad to see her go.

Ok affiliate on-location-newscasters it's your time to shine.
No chance you come close to Rob Brown during the Vancouver Riot though.

This Hurricane (which is only a category 1) is over-hyped just like Hurricane Irene was. I predict you will see flooding in several areas, but it will not be anything close to what some are predicting in terms of devastation. It will lose steam and fade away, like the majority of them. This is from somebody who lived on the east coast for 18 years and has "been there, done that" many times.

Wanna pass some time at work since you have nothing better to do since you are a lazy POS (I'm only kidding). Then go watch these guys as they are live steaming from the heart of Sandy:

It is 600 miles wide, and is converging with a cold front from the west. It is already the strongest hurricane north of north Carolina EVER. We already know that the high tide will be 3-4 ft higher than Irene.
What do you think will happen then? And why do you think the experts will be wrong?

Thanks for your infomred and scientific opinion.

And there you go, some people just dismiss any and all warnings. My guess is Rudee has never even been in a hurricane, but guys like him are the ones who stay behind because they are heroes, and tend to be the ones that have to be rescued on the taxpayers dime.
