Not going to lie, pretty interested in the iPad mini. I really like the form factor of it. Price point is a little high though. Would have loved to see it lower than $300.
Obvious prediction: will sell gangbusters this holiday season.

It's tiered storage, not two separate storage devices. So from the end user perspective it appears to be a single drive, and it keeps the most frequently accessed stuff on the faster SSD, as well as stages writes to the SSD before moving them off to slower storage as required.
Basically, it lets you get the performance benefits of SSD and the capacity of magnetic storage, without manual disk management and shuffling things back and forth on your own (or choosing the wrong placement of stuff and not getting optimum results)
It's a big trend in enterprise storage that is starting to trickle into the consumer market.

I can't justify an iPad 4 or a iPad minito replace my iPad 2. Why didn't these things come out 10 years ago when I was interested in playing with new gadgets and doing more with them. Now a $500 tablet sits next to my bed so that i can surf CP and read about new gadgets. Seems like such a waste.

It's almost a full inch bigger then the Nexus 7, (7 vs 7.9) so I would hope having a full inch on it would make display more content. It's also more expensive with half the storage space (16gig mini, 32gig Nexus 7). Regardless I won't be using words like owned until I've used one in my own hand.

So what's the difference between the iPad 3 I bought last April compared to the iPad 4 that is coming out soon?

A6 chip
lightning connector
LTE antennas allow LTE more places in the world.
In Canada, $30 price drop.

Huh, I had no idea. I'm interested to see what the fusion drive goes for. The fact it isn't listed scares me a little. My iMac is from 2008, which is a time when SSD's weren't exactly on my radar. The thought of having one now makes me rather excited.

I've been waiting a long time to upgrade my laptop and I thought the new 13" MacBook would be a no brainer for me, but I'm still split between the it and the 13" Air due to the higher than expected price.
Is it pretty much a $500 difference for a faster CPU and a retina display?

And 4->8GB RAM, but yeah pretty much. The RAM upgrade is $100 so that's $400 to go from 1.8GHz to 2.5GHz and from an ok screen to an insane screen.. worth it IMO.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think the Nexus has the better size because it's more narrow. You can comfortably hold it in one hand. The iPad mini has a weird square shape that looks awkward to hold with one hand. If I can't hold it properly with one hand, why would I even get the mini?

16:9 is better for movies but 4:3 is a better general purpose layout IMHO

Someone recently lent me a droid HTC ONEX with the 4.3" screen and I find it an awkward size, so much so that I have to shift the phone to reach to all different lengths (kinda like the iphone commercial).
I have an iPad2 and was waiting to get a smaller table for reading, mostly, but I think I might try out the nexus as the Mini's form factor and price seem prohibitive.

So I won't notice much of a difference overall? I didn't even really notice the speed from the iPad 2 to iPad 3, so I'm sure it's a bit of the same for the iPad 4. But I'm sure going from iPad 2 to iPad 4 would be a bit more clear on the speed.
Now the question is, do I need a iPad Mini?

Fair point since 4.0 seems to be the spot, maybe a 4.3 option for those who want at most if you're talking purely about average hand size.
Also, the One X is 4.7 instead of 4.3
