I want to buy a pair or ski boots for this upcoming ski season. Any recommendations for a good, cheap store that can hook me up??

Didn't know that
Pretty much. It is $5k per year, every year since it was introduced. It'll be $25k in available room come January.

Yes you can and it won't affect your contribution room. If the chequing account (or whatever deposit account) is joint then you can transfer to her TFSA without any issues, except of course for the fact that technically you cannot make the contribution, she has to because the TFSA belongs to her and her only. Where the money comes from isn't a big deal.

What I meant is unless you have access to her personal online banking account you shouldn't have any method of doing the contribution for her.

So lets say you have a joint deposit account and you go into the bank and tell them you want to deposit money to her TFSA. If they follow privacy laws they shouldn't even acknowledge to you that she has one.

If you have some sort of online brokerage account, you will need access "her" account to make the deposit because like I said TFSA's belong to one individual only, so you'll have to log in as her. I'm not saying this is a problem or anything, it is quite common, just that technically there is no scenario where you are making the contribution. It is always her making the contribution (even if she is using "your" money from a joint account).

Watch for the ski cellar tent sale. Max Bell sale is on 3rd week of October.

Sport check has some decent prices, but don't expect any help or high end gear.

If you're into online/us shopping, check out evo.com

No where else to put this but it's ncie to see the UofC finally making a main entrance that looks nice and inviting. Painting that archway a nice bright red and putting in a little thing off to the right looks nice. That dying flower bed was pathetic.

I moved a few posts about banking into the existing thread.

Let's keep this thread about quick questions; or more importantly about questions we think will have quick answers. If you are hoping to get 2 or more replies to your question; please feel free to start a new thread. The previous discussion about jet lag could have been in it's own thread, as another example.

A coworker just put her new registration sticker on her license plate and it isnt sticking properly, what can be done to fix it?

I figured any clear tape wouldnt stick well. Any suggestions?

Tell her that she needs to remove the paper part first.

I'd say tuck tape but I don't think they make a clear version.

I'd try headlight repair tape. Or go to the registry and get new stickers...

Having to get new stickers is probably going to wind up being it, but I think crazy glue would work.

Wouldn't rolling up a bit of the tuck tape and placing it on the back of the registration sticker work?

Could also get one of those sleeves that the car dealers use and hope for the best. Maybe throw off any photo radar.

Speaking of which, is that image recognition software that does that or a human? Wondering if by putting the plate in a back window or unusual spot on the car they would still grab the plate numbers and issue a ticket.

Its human. A human actually "issues" and swears to the ticket after reviewing the photo.

Next year the contribution room will be $5500 because of inflation.

What mic, exactly?

Oddly enough, I've always sworn at the ticket whenever I've received one too.

Default Car maintenance

My car had free maintenance for the first four years, during the warranty period, and the dealer did everything according to the manufacturers prescribed maintenance schedule. It seemed like over kill, but it was included in the purchase, so no problem.

Now that I'm off warranty, I wonder do I really need the coolant flush, for example, every 25K miles? What fluids need to be regularly changed? Do I need the engine tune-up? What more do they do in a tune-up beyond oil/filter?

Besides regular oil/filter changes, tire rotation, what other regular maintenance do cars need, and how often? TIA

There should be a maintenance schedule in the back of your owner's manual. Funny. I was going to ask something similar in regards to how it relates to warranty. My dealer sent me an email stating it's time for a service appt after the first 6000 kms. Seems like overkill.

What is the best way to leave you grass for winter. Long or cut very short?

Blue Yeti. I got it from a Mac store and I'm sure it was still under warrenty when it broke, but I obviously couldnt find my receipt almost 2 years later and they wouldn't do anything about it. I really do'nt think its going to be a tough fix. Anyone with decent computer knowledge should be able to (in fact I think I should be able to if I could get the damn thing open) I would think as I just think the USB input got bent. I was pretty peeved that Memory Express wouldnt even look at it.
