Have you seen a micro USB 3.0 cable? The lightning connector is far more user-friendly. I do agree that they should work on getting it to support faster speeds, preferably using Thunderbolt.

WHAT?? the hell?? so we all agree that the lightning cord or whatever does the same thing a microusb cable does BUT because it's looks cooler and is made by apple it is awesome?? hehe.
Ok i guess i will have to live with my microusb cord which will take a .00001 second longer to plug in.

Take it to the other thread, or if you can't deal with the fact that some people are fans of some thing and that they want to talk about what they're a fan of, stay out of these threads entirely.

What's your source? Most online reviewers are saying that the battery life is as good or better than the 4S.

You get more satisfaction from telling someone else that they are wrong instead of actually being right yourself, don't you?
You are just as insufferable as any apple "fanboy" I have ever met.
It is okay that other people have made different choices than you. Nobody thinks you're clever because of your incessant need to criticize Apple at every mention.

I'm pretty disappointed in the battery life on my iPhone 5. Yesterday I completely killed the battery doing the following:
- 45 mins of Angry Birds on the bus to work.
- 3 speed tests to show people LTE speeds.
- about 20 text messages (total- both directions)
- About 4 minutes of cell talk time.
- About 10 minutes of surfing.
- 20 minutes of Angry Birds at lunch; and another 45 minutes on the way home.
I charged it last night and started this morning near 99%. Was back down to 55% after lunch again today. Charging at work now.
These are almost the exact same battery results I had from my 1.5 year old 3GS.

With the current coverage you might actually be best turning off LTE if you are in a flaky zone, reason being is your phone will keep changing from LTE to 3G if you are in crappy coverage (thus, killing the battery) If not, ignore this advice.

That will be my test tomorrow. I also dimmed the display, and shut off bluetooth.

My experience so far is that the battery life is significantly less than my Iphone 4.
Also, cannot use my iphone 5 with my AVH-P3300BT Car Stereo (got an error message stating that the USB connection was not supported). Am looking to see what my options are (will the converter work).

Mine works with my Pioneer deck. Maybe check Pioneer's site for a firmware update or something.

iFixit paired up with ChipWorks to do a teardown of the custom, Apple-designed A6 processor (or SoC, to be more exact). Some pretty interesting stuff, but the manual placement of the ARM cores is pretty fascinating.
Quote:
Step 11- Journey to the center of the A6. The most prominent features inside are the Dual ARM cores, and the three PowerVR graphics cores.
- When compared to the rigid, efficient layout of the GPU cores directly below it, the layout of the ARM cores looks a little homespun—at first.
- Generally, logic blocks are automagically laid out with the use of advanced computer software. However, it looks like the ARM core blocks were laid out manually—as in, by hand.
- A manual layout will usually result in faster processing speeds, but it is much more expensive and time consuming.
- The manual layout of the ARM processors lends much credence to the rumor that Apple designed a custom processor of the same caliber as the all-new Cortex-A15, and it just might be the only manual layout in a chip to hit the market in several years.

Ya, when I'm at work the phone is constantly trying to get on to the LTE network and that's what was killing my battery. Once I turned it off I was fine.
It should be noted that when I'm at home I seem to have no problem getting on to the LTE network.

Not quite. Only two categories of apps have the possibility of presenting issues - those that Apple allows to use the GPS or VoIP API's do not have to terminate in the background, and will definitely impact battery life. Skype is categorized as a VoIP app, and is active in the background at all times. Other apps that appear to check the internet in the background are using push notifications, and have negligible effects on battery life.
