I always wondered why there are no true Retina level phones for Android. I recently read that it was because of the fragmented nature of Android that it would be major overhead to also add Retina support for a few models. That is what you are seeing a Win 8 phone get it first.
Anyways, iPhone may not be the gadget king, but I use my iPhone mostly for reading web pages, and email. That alone is a reason I won't switch yet. I may entertain Nokia Win 8 phone, but for sure not a Android.
Also, this whole walled garden is BS. You can jailbreak your iPhone, and I haven't heard of one hack that I would want on Android, that my jail broken iPhone can't do.
Both OS are great, but for now, there is no reason for me to switch to a "mighty" S3.
|
If all you use your phone for is to read emails and to surf the web, wouldn't a 4.8 inch screen be way better than a 4 inch screen? seems like a no brainer.

Just like people buy BMWs over faster Cobalts, or Colgate over some generic brand toothpaste etc. And with the phone, the price is the same as any upscale android so it’s not like you have to pay a heavy price.
Just a matter of choice.
|
What is the point of upgrading to every single model that they put out then?
If they're such fine quality products they should work and relatively up to date for at least one or two generations. I'm using a Nokia E71 right now (lost my S3) that has worked PERFECTLY for 4 years. Thats a fine, quality product.

As long as you're not getting the flagship phones, then they are pretty cheap.
You can buy a new HTC for like $300 outright and it can do all the basic things that Apple users claim is all they need in a phone.

My wife is using a 3GS and has no desire to upgrade.
Who upgrades a phone every year? We know that no android user upgrades from a S2 to S3 right? Ever....
You have a very selective way of looking at things.

Apple once again showing what an "innovative" company they are...indeed they aren't. In fact Apple isn't going to be getting much more innovative anytime soon. Their R&D spending levels aren't even amongst the top-50 companies in the world, and where they once spent 7.5% of revenues on R&D between 2001 and 2003, they now spend less than 2.5% of that on R&D. But why spend the money to innovate when people will buy your products even if one generation to the next is only a 5-10% difference in feautures?

I'm referring to the people who buy all apple products despite logic.
The fact that there are IPad owners out there who want an IPad mini should tell you that Apple fanboys are mindless cult followers.

If you were a nerd than you wouldn't be getting an IPhone... Do you happen to own a fixed gear bike as well?

Weird. They should probably look at the millions of other tablets out there that are significantly cheaper then the IPad.
Crazy thought... You know, not buying an Apple product.

I was staying out until the specs came out and then I saw people saying that apple had market dominance and I just couldn't resist.
Sorry, I forgot that this thread was ment for all Apple fanboys to praise each others great taste and pat each other on the back.

I guess I'm part of the iCult then. My first apple device was the iphone. Over the last couple years I have bought the iPad, AppleTV, Macbook Pro... and the Airport plus ...you know why? It's easy and it works.
Seriously setting up the router took 1 min. When I lost all my data, and had to get a new phone, the backup that I didn't even know I did restored everything.
Say whatever you want, but I've had 3 issues with apple products in 4 years and all 3 times I have walked out with a fix, free of charge. I don't even have AppleCare, but they have replaced my 3GS when the volume button had an issue, my MacBook Charge cord when my dog chewed it, and my 4S when it stopped working. No Fuss. Great service.
So ya I will pay a premium, because the company has built up great loyalty from me. I have a PC for high end video games, but I still use my MPB to travel and do 90% of my stuff on. When I travel, nothing beats an iPad.
Android users have become the elitest hipsters that they make fun of Apple clients for.
Why is Honda and Toyota the most sold cars in the world? They work.

Apple innovates design and UX, and refines existing technology. It's always been this way.

Specs? Who really cares, they are comparable, and honestly no one knows much about the A6 chip right now.
Do you wanna start comparing bits like the console wars did?

I essentially have (use) every Mac product (MBP, iMac, iPhone, Apple TV, iPad), but they are all provided by work (for work and to take home for personal use if desired)- I am not sure I would make the purchases with my own money though. I was given an iPad for presentations and staff meetings, but it has honestly been sitting in the packaging on my desk for several months. I am still using the 3GS, but have had several opportunities to upgrade- just not interested, or too lazy maybe. I will be getting the 5 because I have reached the point where my phone is getting glitchy because of wear and tear. Its a bloody workhorse though- would be happy to keep using a 3GS.

So which one is it? Apple is not innovative, as Android users remind everyone constantly, or Apple is innovative but just not anymore?
