Well at least Tottenham are trying to spend the money that they got for their best player, the same can't be said for their London rivals.

Oh I agree. Would've loved to see him at WHL. I just meant that I think AVB is done searching for strikers if he's keeping Defoe.

ya with Defoe signing (which I am fine with I think he can still score goals) it means Striker is sorted for now and they are pushing for Lloris/Remy/Moutinho/Willian etc.

Levy was in France today according to Sky

I thought West Ham have been very active in the transfer market. The Carroll loan deal will help them immensely.

Hamburg finally strike £10m deal with Tottenham for Dutch star Van der Vaart

Hamburg and Tottenham have agreed a £10.3m deal for Dutch playmaker Rafael van der Vaart.

The 29-year-old midfielder has long been linked with a return to his former club but the deal seemed to have stalled.

On Friday morning the player departed for Germany to undertake his medical.

^ Looks like this might have some traction. I was initially skeptical when I saw it was in the Mail, but the Guardian has picked it up as well.

Why would Spurs want to offload van der Vaart? To me that makes no sense. Hes a really good player, must be because his wife still works in Germany.

Charlie Adam to Stoke.

his wife works in Hamburg

doesn't fit in a 4-3-3, Gylfi and Dembele can play his position

not happy to see it happen but I understand it if Moutinho comes in (he's on a plane to London)

Sky also had footage of Lloris arriving at Spurs Lodge to take his medical

It's official, Spurs have signed Lloris and Moutinho for €40M while City have signed Benfica defensive midfielder Javi Garcia for €30M.

No chance in hell Arsenal finishes ahead of Tottenham this year.

Spurs and Moutinho still haven't agreed on personal terms, should be a formality really

you don't break your transfer record and then quibble over terms, Levy just trying to get a deal

especially since it came out that they called Hamburg about Rafa this morning, he wouldn't have done that if he wasn't convinced

Lloris for 7.8m is an absolute steal though, he's right up there at the top with a group of guys behind Iker

I read it was a done deal, just need to get it signed tonight.
Dos Santos leaves Spurs and Fulham signed Berbatov (finally). Europe for Fulham? City also signs 34 year keeper from Preston (wtf? Makes no sense) and Inter right back Maicon for £3M. I said it two years ago, and I'll say it now, Maicon should have went Mourinho to Madrid. They would have gotten more than €20M, now they get 3.

He can fit fine into a 4-3-3 as an AM either on the wing or centrally and hes a better and far more experienced player than both of those guys.

I just need to get this off of my chest, not that anyone cares really, but since I don't have a shrink: I despise Bordeax so freakin much. can't the game out of my mind, I haven't been this depressed about any sports game since 2004.

Feeling a liitle better, rant over...

the 4-3-3 AVB plays is not like the 4-2-3-1 Redknapp did

in the 3 you have one holder (Sandro/Parker) one deep lying playmaker (Moutinho, possible Dembele although a different style) and one more attack minded player (Dembele/Gylfi)

The reason VDV doesn't fit in that is because he does't press

he's a great player and I loved watching him but if this is the system going forward they need to press and VDV doesn't fit that

in terms of playing on the wing he was never good and also hated playing on the right when Lennon got injured

Yeah, I also don't understand why sold him, he's a fantastic player. Personal reasons perhaps? Regardless, they've brought excellent replacements for him and Modric. Plus Lloris. IMO, they've done the best job this summer as far as PL teams are concerned.

I'd be shocked if we didn't pay Juve to take him off our hands!

Proof that Liverpool's squad depth is a tad thin?

You should never have left Yossi. Always been a big fan of his but I dont think this really makes Liverpool a whole lot better.

I think Sky just makes stuff up. Every other media outlet says that Yossi is not moving to LFC. Clint Dempsey seems likely, and possibly Sturridge on loan depending on if Chelsea sign a new striker.

That being said, I would be ok with Yossi coming back. He would give us some nice depth. We still really need a striker though with just a few hours left in the window.

If Spurs can land Moutinho then they will have had a really nice window IMO.
