I would love to see MLS (even a lower division) end up here. Unfortunately, this town doesn't even support the Stamps that well anymore so the chances of a soccer team doing well aren't that great

I don't know if this tweet is for real but wow.
Adam Proteau:
Best of luck to that Norwegian soccer referee as she returns to her day job as a U.S. Supreme Court analyst for CNN.

No proper stadium for 3000-10,000 fans equals no soccer team in Calgary for a while.

Yeah, I understand that Calgary needs a stadium. Perhaps the replacement for McMahon could serve a dual purpose (Soccer/Football)?

they should just take soccer out of the olympics. They already have enough diving events.

Was the Norwegian referee a lesbian? Cause she ####ed those Canadian girls pretty badly today.

Definitely a tough way to lose the match. I'm really hoping the Canadians can win bronze, that would be a great showing for a team clearly on the rise.
The delay call was poor, but the hand ball is called more often than not. As was stated before, I'm not sure that you can fault the U.S. for taking advantage. Not sure how the U.S. team is considered arrogant, but whatever. I've come to expect that from some folks here. Emotional games like this bring it out at times.
It was a great, physical match between two teams that are extremely familiar with one another. Both were looking for any advantage they could get, which is what the Canadian coach was doing with his comments yesterday. Sad to see a third party try to steal the headlines.
Edit: Looking forward to visiting during the World Cup in 2015, I'm hoping to see a U.S./Canada final.

Han Solo is a bitch and i'm glad the Japanese shoved her words down her throat last year at the world cup.
Wambach brushed off complaints about the ref as a loser's lament and said it was in line with the relentless talking Canadian coach John Herdman did in the build-up to the game about how the Americans use "illegal tactics" such as setting picks on set plays.
"I feel like you can't blame something on a referee," Wambach said.
Oh, and there was even more. Sinclair scored three times, a near one-woman offense show. The final were two headers. She was brilliant. Correct?
"We made her look good," Solo said. "We didn't win those air battles."

The real obvious one wasn't called at the other end of the field was it?

Wow...thats brutal. No humility at all from Solo.
So if you made her look good Hope, does that mean she made you look like the worst goalkeeper in the games?
Unreal.

She is a pretty sitty goalie though. Canada maybe had 4 or 5 good scoring chances in the whole game and she let in 3. hahaha

Admittedly, I should have added an asterisk on my statement about arrogance. Solo is definitely that.
Nothing wrong with Wambach's statement, you take what you can get.
I missed the hand ball on the other end, sorry. I'll take your word for it.

That's disappointing to hear from Solo. I think during the game the announcers mentioned (paraphrased) that Solo felt she had not been tested yet in the Olympic tournament. She looked pretty darn tested today. Even on the third goal, she was yelling at the USA defender for leaving the near post. It seems Hope Solo can do no wrong. *sigh*

Actually, nobody here is blaming the Americans for taking advantage of the breaks. Also, that call is not made more often than not. The ball was kicked directly into her, she did not have time to react, therefore most refs would have let it go. The call for a free kick that directly lead to the penalty kick was even worse.

Not sure how their team is considered arrogant? Look no further than the goalkeeper. Last time I checked she is part of the team and undoubtedly one of their leaders. When the face of your team and one of your leaders is incredibly arrogant, that tends to rub off on the rest of the team.
Anyway, just like you say you expect that from people on this site, I've learned to expect that Americans are more often than not oblivious to their own arrogance.

You're calling the Canadian coach a 3rd party? He's done more for the program than any coach in the history of women's soccer in Canada.
You want to take a shot at him for trying to steal the headlines. What about the referee that stole the actual game? That's what is truly sad.

Kirani James = Awesome
He made my wife cry. My favorite athlete in these olympics thus far. What a great guy.
