Say they got the $16 burger....add your communist HST and thats like $21 isn't it?
For the OP....get a realtor to show you some of their foreclosed houses...that area is really wanting Albertans to start buying there again instead of in the US and prop up the false economy that was unsustanable increases in house prices.

When I lived in the Okanagan, anyone who lived there and wasn't retired that I golfed was was always like....I used to flip houses, but now you can't make any money doing it.

I have a lot of tips but I'm only going to give one so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle: go to RauDZ. Outstanding restaurant. http://www.raudz.com/RAUDZ/home.html |

My wife and I did this last year and it was intensely fun. Incredible views and deep, DEEP river valleys. There's one line where you have the option to go upside down. Highly recommended.

Peachland also has the Waterfront. Not as swanky as the Gasthaus, but damn good pizza.

The Hell's Angels have a really nice operation with the weed over there as well. My in-laws have had a place in Peachland since the early 80's, and during the 90's when they lived in Calgary they rented it out. Not being able to check in all that often made it a prime candidate for a grow-op. The tenant was "contracted" by the Hell's Angels to provide product. Thankfully the jack-wad only set it up in the garage, so damage was minimal. When it was ultimately discovered by my father-in-law the tenant disappeared. There are rumours that he's not dead, but nobody has actually seen him in years.

My in-laws moved back in shortly thereafter, and for months they'd have very large, very angry bikers pounding on the door at all hours of the night looking for the guy. Pretty freaky.

The Grey Monk tour was awesome when I was on it
I also did a boat cruise/tour which was cool

I loved walking around the downtown/boardwalk/beach, so cool that's all on the lake

Is Grateful Fed still open? I don't recall what I had, breakfast I think, but I liked it. I went there as the name was cool. There's a southern BBQ place that was also good.

The patio at Earl's had a beautiful view, I spent hours up there one day.

I recommend walking around and exploring, but that's also what I'd recommend for any city really. Go into interesting stores/restaurants, and stop and smell the roses.

Kelowna was a nice town, don't think I'd want to live there (I'm an East Coast boy through and true nothing against the city), but I loved visiting.

I definitely recommend hitting Peachland. The waterfront is well done, and has several good restaurants across the street from the water. They also have the high dives and zip line with lots to look at. Good place to spend the day.
The wineries are great places to visit, even if you aren't into wine. Most have good eats, and some provide spectacular views of the valley.

Sunny and -40 degrees is highly, highly overrated by Albertans.

Golf courses are still open, it's around 10 degrees everyday. Yup pretty cloudy, it's not Vancouver gloomy but some days are pretty socked in. Helps keep the weather mild though.

It starts getting sunny consistently in March again. In the meantime, enjoy the fall weather...while Alberta has skipped over to winter already.

Drive up to the ski areas and you will often get above the clouds in the valley.

I'd say a sunny morning is a rarity in the Okanagan during this time of year, thanks to lake effect cloud. Skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, tobogganing...we'd do pretty much whatever would get us out of the valley every weekend.
