Has anyone else started getting the "An unexpected error has occurred" message when trying to order on Steam? Did I order too much and broke it? I need LA Noire at $5!

New deals are up: http://store.steampowered.com/
Walking Dead is on for 40% off. Now $14.99.
Yesterday I bought Orcs Must Die! Just played an hour of it, and it's a lot of fun. Still on for 75% off for another 11 hours. If you are looking to spend $5 on a game, this one is worth it.

Orcs Must Die is awesome. I got it at the winter sale and I cannot wait for the sequel.

LOL, the Dead Island Collection costs more than buying its components seperately.

I'm kind of tempted by some of the MS Flight DLC that's on Flash Sale, although I'm pretty unhappy with the direction they've been heading. None of the warbirds have modeled cockpits, which really emphasizes that they've dropped the "Simulator" from the name...

Mount and Blade series is well worth the pick-up, I think all 3 are on for $2.49 each.
I've spent hours upon hours with that. So much fun.

Cities XL 2012 any good?
I see it has a low review score, but it looks a little more like a better city sim than Ano2070 is.

I'd wait for the new Sim City to come out in February. Apparently it suffers from terrible performance issues.

It's only fun for a few hours, but as your city grows things fall apart. Performance issues become a huge deal, but for me the big problem was the different sizes of zones. This means you can't upgrade zones for higher density, you have to tear everything out and rebuild from scratch. The transportation system isn't very good either.
It's not a horrible game and is worth it if you can get it for a song, but there isn't a ton of replay-ability there.

I haven't read a bad review of this game so I picked it up. Downloading it now.

I posted in the general game thread by mistake, so an abbreviated version here...look out for Europa Universalis 3 to go on sale...pick that up if you like empire building at all!
HP loves ck2 and that is a great game in its own right...I prefer EU3 but give both a try! Both are fantastic and for different tastes!

Definitely, EU3 is great. I played a ton of it a year or two back, though I feel CK2 just makes more sense as a game to me. The major PI franchises are all great, though; Johan Anderson is awesome. It's groups like Paradox Interactive that make me love PC gaming. They are things you'll never experience on a console (in their current forms, anyway).

Well I spent 14 hours ( ) playing a coop game of Shogun 2 over the weekend and I can't speak highly enough of the game. I've never played a Total War game before nor have I seen a strategy game that focused on such large scale tactics. The battles are so cinematic and the AI always seems to throw a wrench into your strategy. I couldn't imagine trying to command that many men and react to enemy troop movements without a pause feature. If Shogun 2 winds up on a flash sale and you like strategy games definitely pick it up.
I also played some 4 player Dead Island with my friends yesterday. Beautiful looking game and it's pretty damn creepy too. The coop has been fun but we're not too far along. I am surprised with how big and open the island is. Lots of things you can use as weapons and it's pretty funny throwing a boat oar at a zombie. Right now I feel like they should have called it Curb Stomp because we'll kick a zombie to the ground and everyone will encircle it and kick it to death. Not a bad game and so far I'd say it was worth the $8.

I'm hoping the Walking Dead game goes on sale. Yes, it is currently 25% off. But I want it cheaper!
As an aside, going through my Steam collection, I have Rome : Total War that I think I won in the Holiday Sale. I'm never going to play it, so if someone wants it, send me a PM.

Thanks again for Total War. I see you have the 8 year steam badge, is 8 the highest? I know I have 8 and i'm sure I have been with steam since it was in beta and counter strike 1.6.

8 years ago is when Steam came out as a beta I believe. It was kind of weird that they had the exact date and time that I signed up it. I can remember how much I hated the service when it first came out. It slowed my system down and made playing Day of Defeat so much more of a pain in the butt. Now I can't imagine PC gaming without Steam. They've just done a fantastic job over 8 years.

Yea, I remember really disliking the whole concept of Steam when it came out. I think the biggest thing was I was in to CS map making, and as I understood it, Steam would cause all sorts of grief to this community. Obviously not the case, and obviously they have done some good things with it.
For the guy looking for Fallout:NV, it's on for 75% off for another 2 hrs 45mins. I can't see it getting cheaper than this...

Yes, I remember modding games use to be a huge chore on Steam. I never made mods but I distinctly remember incredible headaches trying to install them.

Okay, Shogun 2 is on a Flash Sale right now. Do yourself a favor and buy it if you enjoy strategy games. Also Cave Story is $2.50 and that's a fun game.

I bought the vanilla game, now the DLCs cost more than the ultimate edition. Ouch. I wish they offered an upgrade for the price difference.
Not sure if I can buy the ultimate and have two copies on my account?
