Default Steam summer sale

I fell prey to the steam summer sale, so thought I'd mention it to others. Picked up the star wars pack for 50%, sales finish up July 22nd

I think it warrants it's own thread and not buried in a general video game thread (i didn't see a thread, and didn't realize it was talked about in there until posting this)

I find the megathreads kind of annoying. I agree this should have it's own threaed.

Yup, I think a general gaming megathread for general news and minor games is fine, but anything that anyone thinks is threadworthy can have its own thread.

Saint's Row the Third finally at a decent price! \o/

Speaking of Saints Row the Third, can anyone advise if it should be bought with or without the DLCs?

Bought Portal 2 for like $5. For that price, why not?

I don't know how good the DLC is, but it's only 33% off. I bought the game, but I'll wait to see if it gets cheaper.

The only downside of sales is hamstrung download speeds. Even changing to Europe is only getting me 1.5MB/s. Anyone have a server to set it to that is faster?

I really want to get Crusader Kings 2 but my toshiba laptop is almost 4 years old and I'm guessing it doesn't have the guts to run the game. Have been watching those YouTube vids of the Ireland playthrough.

I picked up the Portal bundle for $6.50 ...really looking forward to playing these.

I also grabbed Terraria for $2.50. It's supposed to be like a 2D minecraft so we'll see how that goes. Anyone played it?

Terraria is much more than 2D Minecraft. It started out that way, but they've added so many cool weapons, tools and monsters that it'll take you awhile to try everything. It's well worth playing, especially for $2.50.

There's the "Franchise Pack" as well, that's 75% off.

hey hey hey
goodbye

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Besides, my wimpy little netbook can't run any of these games.

It likely wouldn't play it. In fact, it would load the main menu, but it would be entirely black except the cursor. My old Toshiba Satellite has that issue with it.

I played about 30 hours of it. It's pretty good. A very focused design that does a great job imparting the feel of the era and culture. Pretty good graphics, good music, and a cool multiplayer setup, though multiplayer is pretty limited now with the only ones remaining being the pros that know how to exploit every strategy. The strategic campaign was really cool, but I found the unit variety pretty lacking in the combat part of the game. This is a result of the period and focus of the game, though, I guess.

I would recommend it if you're a fan of that era in Japanese history, or the era covered by the expansion, or are just a big TW fan. It's definitely better and more focused of a design than Napoleon or Empire.

For me, Day 1: Fallout 3: GOTY Edition, Portal 1, Portal 2, Bioshock 2, Deus Ex: Human Evolution + The Missing Link DLC, Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode One, Half Life 2: Episode Two (I'm excited to replay the base game, and I never did play the Episodes), Legend of Grimrock, and Left 4 Dead 2. That gets me caught up on some older games I missed, some I want to replay, and it all only cost me like $40 or so.

Well I caved under the pressure of two friends and bought Shogun Total War. Looks like a 15 hour install lol.

I haven't played the Half Life series.

Should I start with the first one?
